At the moment i pay $230 for shipping 16kg worth of goods from China to the UK, which is very costly. Does anyone know of any cheaper ways to ship goods from China.

Im not concerned about the time takes. Are there any services or companys that sell slots in containers. I would be interested to know im looking to import roughly 100kg of compact goods?

try shipping through a good freight forwarder that consolidates. I am sure you will get it cheaper than $14 per kg.

Umm, $230 for 16 kg to UK. That sounds joking for me.  If I was doing this case, the price should not more than $180. Even the fuel-surcharge is getting higher and higher. You just need to find a proper freight forwarding agency then they will be able to offer you a big discount for shipping. And from I know UPS will be your best choice for shipping to UK with cheapest price and reliable services as well. Second choice could be DHL.

If you have more than 50kgs or your goods are all very valuable, I would recommend you to do the Air freight services, there are actually many airlines for your choice. and the price is about 2/3 of shipping with Courier.

If you have a few cubic meters of you goods and they all plastic stuffs etc, LCL is your best choices. (consolidation)

If you have tons of goods, take a 40' HQ container~~

Above all, if your have supplier located in Guangdong and Hongkong. Contact me via the MSN below and we will see what service I can do for you.

Replying to [S McB]: Don't use DHL or similar courier, it is more expensive. I propose that you use general air way transportation, this can save you half of the cost.

Hi, could anyone advice on the cheapest shipping cost from Shenzen (China) to Melbaurne (Australia). I will ship around 100kg of fabric material each week. If there is any company could help me to reduce my shipping cost please email at torros.m@gmail.com. Thanks for the support.

I must again say that I am a bit surprised to see how you all handle shipping.

First of all, it is easy to send larger shipments (too large to send by air) by container ship. You do not need to buy a whole container, you just buy whatever space you need.

Secondly, why bother handling the shipping yourself? Get a CIF price, and whatever company you're dealing with should be able to quote you a very reasonable shipping cost quote, and then arrange to have your stuff sent in a container with other goods (theirs or other's).

Generally, this is what we do, and the difference in cost between us arranging the shipping ourselves, and the factory doing it for us, is so incredibly small that it is hardly worth mentioning.

Hello Casper

I am from South Africa and looking at importing some envelopes (50 000 of them!) from China.  I am totally new to the process.  I read your advice above, which sounds like good business practice to me.  My question: How do I get the CIF price?  Can the company I am dealing with organise everything?  What should I look at or keep in mind?  Is that all?  What other costs do you have?  How do you go about finding out about import duties?

Thanks,

It will be great if you can help.  Where are you from?

[em17]  as you said you dont concern the time takes ,you may choose ocean shipping. it will take you 30 day around. but air or express just  1 day.
