Replying to [Buffet]: CIF = Cost, Insurance, Freight. The Sellers pays all charges until the cargo arrives at your Port. ASWP = Any Safe World Port. SBLC = Stand By Letter of Credit (talk to your bank about this) BG = Bank Guarantee (Talk to your bank about this too)
The Impossible we can do today, Miracles may take a little while longer
Replying to [int786]:What is meant by CIF ASWP? I understand CIF but this ASWP - Any Safe World Port, it this any port name or it means any port in the World? i.e seller will pay the Cost, freight and insurance to any safe port where buyer desire.
Yes, However CIF-ASWP is not an Incoterm and it's pretty poor English anyway.
Incidently, I would never buy CIF unless the Insurance policy is transferable to me + covers all risks + is written in $USD. (Remember, buyer can't claim under the policy if buyer is not party to the Insurance contract and seller may not insure for all risks under CIF).
May the Gods of Trade ... Shangdi, un dieu, dio, Gott, Dios, Deus, Allah, alaha ... smile on us
Replying to [Aussie]:Hi, I was interested to find out why you would not buy CIF (unless...).
I am new to this industry: I would have through that, as long as it is CIF with an L/C, the L/C would protect the buyer in case of any issues. Is this correct, or not always? Does a D L/C offer less protection?
Replying to [Buffet]: CIF: Cost Insurance Freight AWSP: Any world safe port SBLC: Standby letter of credit BG: Bank Gurantee Here is a link for the abbriviation also if you need any more help look me up www.globalvisiontrdg.com http://www.marad.dot.gov/publications/glossary/A.html
