New fish must first learn to swim in small pond.

Do jump into the waves or get into the water infested with sharks, baracudas and sea urchins.
The new fish should always go about in large schools, among other new fishes.
The new fish first learn to eat small food, not too big to swallow.

The new fish should exercise his fins, and practice his skills to catch his preys. Cannot bite too big a piece that the new fish choke to death. The new fish should identify who are the friends and who are the enemies, and learn to gather among friends and avoid the enemy. New fish must learn from the OLD Fish, be humble and not offend them, or else Old fish not teach new fish new tricks.

The LED market is getting crowded and more competitive. Yet this market is still green, and there are lots of opportunities and potentials.

To be a leader, your company should strive to be ahead of the competitors in the aspects of the 4 Ps.

  1. Product - brand building, product innovation, research and development, technology and application. Special applications and find the market niche.
  2. Promotion - the leading activity is this, not sales which is the fruits of the promotion. Promotion is actually market communication. If you have a beautiful daughter and want her to marry a good and capable young man, you would Go and Tell your neighbours, your town, your city, and then your State, your country and abroad. Advertisement is a major part of promotion, but promotion has a lot more to do than just putting up a slot on National Television during prme time, or placing and advert in the newspaper, or writing massive emails or run a program in the media. It is telling people, who are your potential buyers what your PRODUCT can do for them, in terms of benefits of health, status, money savings, safety, reliabilty and quality and others.
  3. Pricing - the one most important factor if the product is based on this line of strategy. However if the branding of the product sells, then pricing is a sub-factor. People pay for a handbag with brand name thousands of dollars, which the no brand item with the same function sells for tens of dollars.
  4. Place or Distribution outlets. The product has to be reached by the target audience, and if the product has short life-cycles, distribution is crucial. For example if your company is selling bread, you have to get the bread sold within the day, if not it would be stale. You need to distribute the bread to as many outlets as possible within as short time as possible. Every product has life-cycle, and this is affected by the market demand, substituted product, and  market trend. Some life-cycles are brought to abrupt halt by the change in technology, innovation and application, rendering it obsolete. E.g. the carburetor of a car engine has been rendered obsolete by the introduction of fuel injection system.

Look for customers

Do some market intelligence. Search the Internet for potential customers.
Do brainstorming among your team. Get your production manager to be involved.
Make catalogues in soft copies with Reader friendly software. Take pictures of your product.
Technical specifications are important for the LED products. E.g. Luminance or brightness, color of light, voltage and wattage, AC or DC.
Other applications : portable, fixed, class approvals, and restrictions.

Learn marketing skills, send emails, do a website and promote through Alibaba.
