PRICE OR QUALITY MORE IMPORTANT??? 11 replies,1288 views

This problem make me confused. price play  an important role in the selling and purchasing market. As well as the quality.

So many customers are just concerned the price ,But not so care about the quality.

I don't think that's a good thought. For every customer, should think about the quality first, then the price.

If a high quality product without a cuastomer interested in it's quality, what a pity. What quality, then what price.

If only care about the price, then it'll hardly buy a good quality product. Like a company, without good quality products, then will stand well for so long term. Do you think so? or u have your own idea?

I agree with you.But we have to admit that most of the buyers always put the price first, then the quality.

Re: PRICE OR QUALITY MORE IMPORTANT???
I am a Design Engineer in the UK and I feel your pain - daily. Our purchasing team seem to concentrate only on cost so choose the cheapest supplier. Our managers congratulate them when they make cost savings, but it is rare for Purchasing to consider quality. We in Design want a product that works as designed throughout its intended life, and our management congratulate us if we achieve this. We, as a company, would rather pay a little extra for a quality product. We have some catchphrases which we use to disarm the Purchasing team when we disagree with their sourcing decisions: "The cost of quality" and "Buy cheap, buy twice". People have to remember that warranty costs are many times the cost of the original purchase and people placing the orders with suppliers need to made to understand this. It is the same globally and a very difficult task. What I've written here probably doesn't help, but you do have my sympathies.

Re: PRICE OR QUALITY MORE IMPORTANT???
One of the major problems is that it is difficult to know what is the quality of a product compared to the price.

Just forget for a moment that you think people only look for lowest price.

Now look at an example.

Say I am looking for a particular product. I contact say 10 suppliers of that product. Eight are around the same price, one is higher price and one is lower price.

Now, for me, I would normally look at the suppliers who are offering similar price because I work on the theory that too low means bad quality and too high means probbaly trying to screw me.

But of those 8 suppliers, how do I know which offers the best quality for the price. I cannot tell by just looking at the pictures and I cannot get samples of all 8 products.

So how can I tell??

My answer is that I cannot possibly know. So I start looking at the level of service I am offered. If you provide bad service you won't get the deal, but if your service is excellent then that puts you veyr high on the list.

Thats my thinking anyway.
