Aftermarket vs Fake iPhone Parts -- Help 8 replies,1469 views

I run a business where we process 2,000+ iphone each month and export mainly to China/HK and some in USA where most **** or repair and resell.

We want to start doing some of this refurbishing in our own facility for retail sales.

My partners have the concern that using parts to repair iPhone have patent to worry about.

Please remember, we do NOT wish to use any part that have logo or apple writing on the parts. EX: Back housing, will not have a Apple Logo.

Can someone tell me of the legality (For US) in refurbishing these phones here. I know everyone here not use OEM. Is too expensive. Most use copy parts. We want to use non-OEM parts, but not copy and no parts representing apple logos etc.

Even if everyone get away with it now I do not want to set up business model around something where the government agency might walk in one day. Just prefer to keep wholesale.

Can anyone shine some light on this topic on **** fake vs aftermarket part (just like original, but no logos).

The parts in question that we need to use for replace are

1) Back Housing
2) Digitizer
3) Flex Cables
4) Dock Assemblies

Thank you!

This is a very good question since Foxconn is not allowed to sell parts to anyone other than apple. It is pure speculation as to what is
OEM and what is not. Most so called "OEM" parts are nothing more than HI COPI, (had to spell it that way because it is considered an offensive word for some reason) as they say in China. Unless of course they are pulled from a all original iPhone. The key is to just get good quality parts and request from one of the many manufacturers in China to not put Apple on any of them. But I don't see the harm if people can sell a used iPhone, then why not use parts that say apple? I would deffinitly be interested in some of these phones you sell for refurbishing tho.

Our company sells mainly 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4 used and refurb. We process around 2-4K each month from end user buy back program. THe stock is located in USA and Philippines where we have board repair company. We typically sell several hundreds at a time and are set up for orders of at least MOQ 10 psc. If interested, e-mail me at djones [at] i vox solutions dot com or add me on alibaba, Thank you

Dustin if you need quality repair parts then you must attend a trade show. If you are not meeting others face to face then you run the risk of losing.

We know of many repair parts companies both here and internationally. My question is on the USA customs back into USA from Philippines and what is needed to ensure clearance of iPhone boards, repair OEM stock and refurb units. Any suggestion on this? Thanks

It is my understanding that there are no tariffs on cell phones. On parts however....I would doubt it. You would likely not be shipping these in a container, but instead via mail. Use EMS and you should be fine.

Can anyone recommend trade shows where reputable mobile phone repair parts manufacturers can be found?  I'm in the USA, so this would be my preference, but can travel abroad as well.  Very much appreciated!

I do not recommend Trad show, but I have one site that can help you better to find all original accessories.
Thanks Alibaba for giving me chance to share my experience.  [em1]
