Replying to [PosterBoy]: Another important aspect, which I may add here, related to import duties and tariffs is the correct declaration of the H.S. Code in the LC. The duty sturcture varies for a specific product even if imported under a common product heading. It is advisable to always check the Customs Tariff Publication of the country or to check with the C&F Agents before import.

If ship from China, it should be "GSP Form A" instead of "Certificate of Origin" help reduce duty.

Replying to [kendo]:C/O can help reduce duty paid in some countries such as Vietnam. When I buy from a Chinese supplier, I ask the supplier for C/O but they said that they haven't got C/O. Should I continue to buy from this supplier.

Replying to [kendo]: Certificate of Origin are one important if you are exporter, it is being needed for the where your product from. It is also need for the custom inspection for your shipment delivery.. When ever you ship a goods Certificate is really needed..

NO NOT IN ANY CASE THE CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DUTY.CERTIFICATE OF ORIGIN IS THE ONLY PROOF THAT URS CARGO IS DELIVERED FROM THE SAID COUNTRY FROM WHERE IT IS ISSUSED.IT IS NOT MANDOTARY TO OBTAIN COUNTRY OF ORIGIN AS IT IS BASED ON THE TERMS OF LETTER OF CREDIT BETWEEN THE EXPORTERS AND CONSIGNEE.

If the buyer and supplier are from the countries which have prefrential trade agreements then definitely the certificate of origin( in this case GSP cetificate of origin ) will make an impact in duty reduction.
