Should I fly away to confirm the legitimacy of a company???
Post 1 of 11
Hello all,
I have been scammed several times just like you have, and honestly, believe that is safer to go there by yourself , check the store, check the items and to know the people,,but my friends,,, I have seen that a lot of people from Canada, US, UK,China, Malaysia, India etc... have suffered scammed too,,,then I ask to all of you that live in these countries, Is really worth to fly to Malaysia (for example) when people who borned there have been scammed too and are looking for suppliers in the net??? So then is just some kind of "myth" that there you can find suppliers of electronics at bargain prices??
I will be expectingo for your valuable comments.
God Bless

Yes you should.
As manufactures trying to start out dealing with the clients one to one is very difficult.Mostly they think we are Wholesalers pretending to be a Factory. So we encourage everyone to come and see for themselves. This face to face meeting with the clients builds better trust.
We don't deal in electronics but the principals of Trading are the same.
By out laying a little you'll save yourself a lot.

I agree with you and I believe that is better to spend money for a flight just for once, instead of asking for samples to fake companies that will only cheat on you.
Thanks again

Replying to [dpeloz]:right, but it will add some extra charges to your flight just to check the company.it is too expensive.maybe you can refer to the chamber of council or any friends of that country,it is a easy and cheap way.or you can ask the company to send you samples and their website to check.you can find whether the company's main products is within your business activities.

Replying to [dpeloz]: Hello my friend. I work with different countries. I think that whether or not to fly is dependant on the order requested. If my order is a relative small one, and I have seen a web site, a sample and I have spoken on the phone - that to me is usually enough. But if you are discussing large quantity orders, I would also recommend hiring a company which deals in International Quality Inspection. I do believe this will be less expensive than flying around the world for each supplier, and usually these companies know how to locate real companies better than the average businessman....

As an abrasives supplier, and first time talking with all the friends here,I get valued info. here.
I should make my potential cliens trust me and my company, with all enough info. supplied.
Good.I'll go on try my best to achieve that.

Replying to [dpeloz]:Flying to these places is not always pratical, some are expensive to visit and some are downright dangerous!...
Carrying out simple checks to verify a companies true dealings is not hard, I run a verifications system that is not expensive and could save you money and time.
If a company is genuine you will have no problem in requesting data from them needed to verify details etc..
There are many good and honest suppliers out there, but also many many con artists trying to relive you of you hard earned money, don't be a fool to the "Such a good offer" so many of my clients use me because they have been scammed!... Blind greed is the scammers best tool and they will use it agains you every time..
Trust your own instincts...

Replying to [dpeloz]:sometimes a quick visit to manufactures will do, but other times trusting your instincts will have same results. the question is when to use either, well if you dealing with large amounts Visit the manufactures and while in there visit goverment agencies so you can authenticate the reputation of the company.
I have been scammed several times as well but those times had been small amounts and most of the time they come like this "too good to miss offers, where prices are low costing price".
I also agree with Krunchieuk
"If a company is genuine you will have no problem in requesting data from them needed to verify details etc".

Dear Dpeloz,
Nothing beat a face to face deal making in international trade even today.
