Hello Fellow Ali baba Members,

Few months ago, we were introduced to a point system. Which worked in a way that you would receive " Value points" for posting and creating topics. Prizes had also become a factor for the use of "value points". It all sounded like a good idea until members started abusing the system. Using the advantage of insufficient amount of Moderators to check over the boards, they start spamming up the boards.
-Trade Leads had increased by almost 60% since the arrival of the point system.
-1-5 word posts have increased by 20%
-Worthless posts have increased by 70%
-Worthless topics have increased by 70%

I understand that Ali baba had tried to use the point system to improve the activeness on the discussion boards. But having a Automatic point giver is not the way to go.

Ali baba should elect 2-3 more members from the boards and appoint them the job of checking over the forums for posts. The points should be awarded not by a machine but humanly. If the elected member, noticed a post by a fellow member that seemed helpful, then they should be awarded points. With this method, Ali baba will have to create a system that send all the new posts directly to the elected members email address of Ali baba account to check over.

Lots of hatred has arised from this point system. Members here, flame and attack others against messages posted that aren't that important. Instead of everyone here working and helping each over, counter-wise everyone here is battling with them-selves.

I also believe that you shouldn't elect 10 points to Topic Creators, there is no logical reason. The person is requiring help, they are receiving free help and at the same time, 10 points. This should be taken away.

* I hope most of the Ali baba members agree with my suggestion towards Ali baba. If you agree with me, please reply here stating " In all respects I fully agree to the terms and standards that Ali baba should under-go for a better community that were advised by Martin", You can also post your further suggestions towards the system.*

Best Regards,
Martin

Hi,  Martin,

Thanks for your suggestion. It has been forwarded to our relative department accordingly. They will re-consider the automatic points system to see if we can improve this system to meet our members' requirements.

Thank you Stone. This might get rid of all those people who get on and post subjects about nothing, or just post emoticons, and reply to serious questions with absolutely stupid answers or comments.
There have been far too many like this since the points were introduced.

@gallo55 - did you really read the whole senario and understood. You just posted 4 word there. [em9]

Most people posted 1-5 word and their contents are usually useless and not meaningfull. Some forum have such regularation but i believe alibaba don't.

Yes, I believe that 1-5 word posts are useless. There can't be much contanct in it. If you can't say anything helpful, then a post is not nesscerory.

In the past we've had guys like orange,healthy09 and others post absolute dribble.
But no sooner does one of these spam artist disappear a new one pops up.
I'm taking about rsbaptista this guy offers nothing, today he replied to 2 -3 pages on Members Discussion giving no valid help at all.Just spamming his E-mail.
And yes I've dropped my E-mail once or twice but not 20-30 times in one day.
I hope Admin takes suggestions and put them in place.
