I am going to purchase 50 PSPs off someone. He is also in the UK like me but he uses a dropshipper so the goods come from elsewhere. He is a registered UK business (but only since august), vat registered and a Trustpass member.

He is asking for a T/T payment into his company **** (but he also does L/C for large orders). How safe is this payment method and is it possible to get my money back if it goes wrong?

Please share your experiences people.

Cheers.

If you havnt read other posts, LOTS of people are being scammed. Do not do business with ANYONE unless they offer secure forms of payment no matter how legit they seem to be, even if their bank and company information check out.

There is absolutly NO REASON a supplier cant accept secure forms of payment. Credit Card transactions go straight into their **** just like a wire transfer. If they claim they have been defrauded by credit card use, well this may be true or it could just be an excuse. However credit card fraud can easily be avoided if the supplier verifies the information with the bank, calls back the card holder with the number on file, runs the transaction through a fraud prevention system, makes you sign some documents and requires it be shipped to the billing address. With these steps a supplier can protect themselves as well. And if they worry about the cost, well i dont think any buyers would object to paying the extra fee for a secure transaction.

Well he accepts Paypal if that matters..

This is the supplier I am talking about:

http://timecorporates.trustp *.alibaba.com/offerdetail/13170292/Sell_Apple_Ipods.html

He does not accept cash pickups anymore because he does not hold stock in the UK now and uses a dropshipper due to high demand.  Escrow is not accepted anymore either because he says that he got scammed when someone got the goods and said they got the wrong stuff or whatever.

Oh my god, thats the bloke I once started dealing with. If they have put on Alibaba that they allow for personal collection (which I might add, has been on there for ages now) then they should abide by that.

If they then use some excuse, are they putting this 'personal collection available' nonsense to entice people before conning them? Been there, done that....and how it hurts. My loss was only £800...I hope yours won't be more...

Best of luck, hope my bad experience won't put you off...

Well if they accept credit card there really is no risk to you. If you dont get what you ordered, dispute it with the bank and they will reverse the charge and take the money from the merchants ****.

Thankyou for your support, and I agree, I hate them too.

No, I was conned by another company from Alibaba. 9 out of 10 companies on Alibaba are fake. When I got conned, I just paid by T/T and have never seen the goods or my money since.

Mind you, I don't think the scammers were that clever because when they sent the T/T info, all they had to send was the IBAN number some type of sort code. BUT they sent the bank address they were using in Islington (dodgiest place ever in London), their accound no, sort code, name of bank, everything...now if I were to be just as dishonest as them, I would have gone straight to a mate that works in a London Natwest branch and got them to give me all the info I needed from those con artists....Lucky for them I'm not that nasty.. bloody should have been...s ...

On the other hand, it was my first dealing with someone from Alibaba, and I should have been more careful. You know what I have learnt? If a company says it has revenue of £XXXX million or dollars, etc, and say they are a well known and respected company, whack their name into a Google search. That should soon narrow it down. If they were the big bad boys they say they are, surely Google would come back with at least one result. ALSO ALWAYS CHECK THE ADDRESS AND POSTCODE IN GOOGLE!! CAN'T BELIEVE I ALMOST BELIEVED ONE GUY WHO WAS USING THE SHIPPING COMPANY DD-TRANSPORTS. Oh my gosh, check this company out on google. You will be quite shocked, and will get a VERY USEFUL link to a website listing lots and lots of internet mobile companies, shipping companies and 3rd party agencies who are ALL SCAMMERS.

Use this link, very useful- http://www.joewein.de/sw/fraud-support-escrow.htm

Hope this helps! Use google for everything. Sounds pants but it saves time, and gets rid of the blatent scammers. Just watch out for the con atrists... :-(

Just tried the phone number and just get an answering machine every time.  This puts a red flag up for me but would be interested to know if anyone else actually gets a reply from this guy.

See, that guy who runs "Time Corporates", I have spoke to him. It was at the beginning of September.

He was an asian sounding guy, sounded like a home phone because a younger person picked up the phone first of all, then called for the bloke I spoke to. It was all done quite unprofessionally, but still...

He quoted me £125 per ipod (can't remember which model I was being quoted on now) and I was interested in purchasing 10 of them at the time.

So I don't know whether the number has changed on Alibaba since Sept due to the number of calls he was getting, but I have definately spoke to him. I didn't go ahead with the deal because I thought I would get them cheaper elsewhere...haven't found anything as cheap since to be honest!

try tmtsystemsuk.com they seem to have them very cheap on their website!  Companies house checks out, whois.com check is OK but the phone number has changed - when called there is an answer machine that says you've reached TMT systems.  Their office address is London but the new phone number is Bedfordshire.

Their website accepts credit cards or Western Union!  Not sure I want to even give my credit card details to someone I don't know and can't spk to as this can be used for identity theft.

I'm about to give up ...................................
