I'm sorry to hear that. Now there many cases up about carton broken or item broken .
It is very complex to claim ,beacuse you should make clear when the goods broken or carton broken .
For the carton ,it is simple , you can let the factory to take some photo when they load the goods, and let the ship company sign the loading situation .If all carton loaded on the container or trucks are good and not broken ,then if the goods reach customers broken,i think the ship company must take the responsibility and they need to explain the reason which cacuse the broken item.If it is beacuse of shiping company ,they should conpensate you ,if the reaosn is the accident or nature casues ,you shall claim to the insurance company if your goods is insured . If the carton broken in the factory ,you should claim to the supplier ,not the shiping company.

Now there are many freight company register in alibaba, but most they provide delivery service ,they are not the person who is in charge of the goods. I think you should find a big logistic company ,though the fee is a little expensive ,but they take the responsibility of the goods.

Firstly, Damages to cargo is a regular occurrence in international shipping and is for the risk of seller and buyer. Shipping companies only have limited liability which usually does not cover the cost of the goods or the shipping. If something is broken and the supplier has sent it to you on CIF/DDU or DDP terms, then you have to make a claim to the supplier. Be aware that cargo insurance has to be bought in order to cover goods damaged in transit and that a shipping company does not have to give you anything if they don't want to.
