I'm seeking guidance on how to proceed with my first order from a Chinese LED manufacturer.

I've already have the supplier and product identified.  I have discussed price by email with the supplier.  I would like to order samples to judge the quality of the product before placing larger orders.

Can you advise on the typical procedure, more specifically, how to make payments (it seems letter of credit is a common way but i'm not familiar how this works)?  Once the payment is made, who handles the shipping, customs clearance, and final delivery to my company location (located in the USA)?

First, have you verified the seller's reputation? If yes, I think you need to hire an agent to ensure the safeness of your transaction.

For a first time to do foreign business, i also think to ask  professional agent  for advices is a good idea.

the agent is sometimes convenience, however, you also need to be very cautious.

First make small quantity as trial order;if possible,find some good relation middle-man to help to to go to the company to check the quality or make the business through some trade company and the trade company can definately help you to gurantee the quality.

To believe is poweerful! i think to believe is not always bad in business,i also like to believe my buyers,then the business will be easier.And some times,my buyer belives me,and i usually work harder than usually and do best.

Payment term,LC is good idea for the first.

Shipping delivery,you do not need worry more!When you start import,delivery is not a problem.The shipping agent can do it well.

 

My englishi is limited,but i only say what i think with true and sincere words according to my 6 years exporting experience.
