For example, neither I nor my colleagues want to deal with agents! never!!!

Why?

Because they actually do NOTHING, they don't work, don't travel, don't make international calls, they don't collect products, don't calculate, don't deal with customs, don't pay fees, they don't control logistics, don't search for products, don't deal with banking transfers, etc, etc, etc....
[em47] [em46][em48][em51][em45][em44][em43][em42][em49]

They do NOTHING, they are NOT RESPONSIBLE for anything.
They just send silly emails, asking "How much", "oh, we have a rich buyer, give us the biggest discount and commissions"...

Just want money....

So, we don't pay commissions, because these "agents" don't work as suppliers, as manufacturers, as buyers, who pay much money.

And what is important, these agents ask for abnormally high commissions, sometimes higher then we earn, that is very strange as minimum...

Initially I thought that those agents would be helpful, but in fact they are just time wasters, who take MY profit doing absolutely zero.

I kick them out!

Dear RussianSupplier,
May be you have some bitter experience with Agents. But all agents are not irresponsible. You can communicate direct with big customer. But there are so many many customer who are not so big and dont know how to contact with foreign manufacturer. These types of customers are depandent on Agent of foreign manufacturer. But manufacturers does not understand that.
So I think Agent has a very important role for sell products to mid level customer.

yes, Didar, agents play an important role, it is true.

But in fact they don't work as other people, because agents just send e-mails.

This is a home-based job, you can do it just 1-3 hours per day. [em54]

An agent asks "how much?" and tells it to the buyer.

Zero efforts, zero work, zero financial responsibility.

If you offer them 500$, they will NOT accept!!! Neither 1,000 $

I received offers from such agents and was SHOKED by their hungry, impudent behaviour. They wanted MORE then I earned, although I personally would be responsible for supplies. [em47][em46][em51][em42]

Abnormal expectations and overestimation of themselves!

I don't respect such "helpers" now and don't want to work with them.

I am ready to work on the basis "buy PERSONALLY from me and re-sell to anybody".

But you must visit a bank for a HUGE CREDIT TO BUY anything, really huge credit WITH % PER EVERY MONTH.
Most of agents will not do it.... [em42] They don't want any responsibility and don't want to work...

i see that agent has a bad reputation here. in my opinion, agent is agent. nothing more. they must work according to deals that was made by him and client. i understand that many bad guys use this opportunity to get a not healthy money from a company/person that need to know/control/buy/anything a certain product. but, it doesn't mean that all people who act as an agent would do the same. definitely, wrong. there are a few tricks to employ and an agent. for example, you must know the true identity from the agent. including the personality, his record (you can collect from information provided in Internet ), and you must be smart on this. NEVER !!, i repeat NEVER employ agent that you don't really know. trust is the main aspect here, when you have a good agent (trusted one), your work would be much easier, otherwise, it will be bad i myself not an agent, since I'm new here and just looking around. and i know why people are very disappointed on the work of most agents. such a person can not be called as agent. they are burglar, and do not deserve your money at all. an agent is a person who really works for you remotely. Responsible and have honor. how to get such a person?. the trusted one, and who really want to work for you honestly. not as easy as you thought. but not really hard to find. all you need to do is to BUILD COMMUNICATION. with whom?. with anyone that you think NICE. building communication and trust is not a simple thing. they are not instantly. so be careful. this process is painful, but once you get. you will simplify many things. bad people and good people can not be differed easily. so..get you time to analyze it. i hope this is useful for you

Sending emails cost no more then 3,000$ per month.
It is MAXIMUM. MAXIMUM!!!

If you ask "how much?" and just repeat the answer to the end buyer, you MUST NOT receive more then this sum from the deal.

Even a pregnant woman can send an email, it is not difficult...

Agents ask for several % from the deal or minimum 1$ per ton.

When we read these messages with abnormal expectations from "mandates or other agents", most of people whom I know loudly lough and call them "idiots". [em2]
But we can't say it personally, because it is not polite.

We just don't reply...
And don't work with these hungry for money representatives, who don't move a finger to buy, to find a product, to travel between several cities or villages, to supply, to carry risks, to pay for transportation, to transship, to care for delivery, to be responsible for anything personally, financially....

Agents are needed, but when they are realistic. Most of them are NOT...

And I also don't understand WHY a seller must pay any commission to an agent. [em12]

When you visit a shop and want to buy a product - you must buy as it is, right?

Isn't it strange to tell a shop-assistant "I need this product for my employer, he is now at work, far away, that's why you MUST PAY ME COMMISSIONS, because I buy for him in you shop".

Look at the face of a seller...[em12]

If he is polite, you will hear "So, if you help your boss, ask HIM pay you, we just sell products".

If he is not polite, he will tell you "Get out" . [em5]

Some people like “russiansupplier“ don’t have any idea how an agent work…

Agent will be got the commission money after sell the product. So they have no way to act as a pregnant woman. And the difficult part is done by an agent that is “search the customer”.

An agent have to responsible to the seller and buyer both. Because he connected them with each other. Agent have to be trustful and reliable to buyer. Otherwise buyer doesn’t give order to the agent. On the other hand if seller doesn’t trust agent and provide him sufficient product information and samples, then it will be difficult for the agent to manage buyer.

Remember, big customer’s has ability to go direct seller’s country and give order. But there are so many mid level customer who has no connection with foreign country. These type of customer depends on that big customer who is the importer OR the try to reach at seller’s agent. Then the agent has responsibility for the customer also to ensure that he will get the products what he exactly wants.

I am that kind of agent who has also representative at seller’s country to ensure the inspection on behalf of buyer. If you don’t get support to the agent then you will don’t get longtime customer....

Didar,
when you will be personally FINANCIALLY responsible for the deal - you will earn as much as you want.
[em42]

When you just ask "how much?" and want to earn sometimes like a President of a Global Holding...
from 2 sides simultaneously (from a seller and from a buyer)!

It is abnormal, as minimum.

And funny, because I see a person who wants to be rich doing absolutely nothing...
[em2]

Go to a bank, obtain a loan at interest ( 1-500 million $) to buy products, to re-sell, to pay for logistics, customs clearance, different fees, etc...

Ready?
Subsequently will start discussing anything here, a chatterbox!

Personally, I have been an agent for a very long time.  The amount you pay to a buing or selling agent is contingent on what that agent can provide for you.  RussianSupplier, sorry but it would seem that you have really no experience with a true agent.  I have been absent from this forum for some time as my work load as an agent has had me crossing oceans and working with buyers and sellers at some great length.  Any good agent is going to have aq following of not only verified suppliers but buyers that buy through them because they have the verified suppliers.

To answer your question as to a percentage this is negotiable based on what the agent is doing for you.

Regards,

Ranger
