Agreed on CIF My port, Now being charged for freight

Hi All,
I'm from Vancouver, Canada and me and a supplier agreed on the payment terms "CIF Vancouver". The freight forwarded has just sent me an invoice for Sea Freight.
Am I correct to assume the supplier should have arranged to pay for this based on our terms "CIF Vancouver"?

hi there, yes CIF means you sould not pay the Freight as its built into cost of goods, what exactly have you been charged by forwarder ?

Shipping cost should have been included. I assume you haven;t had the goods released yet?

CIF Covers goods up to the Destination Port. You therefore should only be liable for Local Costs in Canada. Tell the forwarder/shipping line that freight has been prepaid by the shipper and do not pay it !
