Hello,

I am trying to find a manufacturer in China that accept PayPal, but no one seems to accept it?  Is there a reason why?  Everyone insists on Western Union payments, but this is not a safe method.  Once they receive the money there is no garantee they will send the goods.

I appreciate your replies. Thanks.

Hi,

Most of chinese factories don't know what paypal is. Actually, paypal is not well-known in China as it is in other countries. Most people pay by cash or credit card or when they shop something on the net, they pay by zhifubao, which is very much like paypal, but it cost no other fees.

And also, paypal is not quite suitable for large amount payment. Sellers would prefer not to accept it. But as for West Union, althought it is also not quite popular in China, but sellers know it is very safe and they don't have even have to take the least risk, so they accept.

So, I think paypal can be as a payment for retails like we buy things from ebay and pay for it, but not for big amout international transaction.

Hope this could be some help to you! [em1]

It` s the very interesting question also for me! Once I payed by WU and lost my money! And I don`t want to risk anymore! I think supliers need to use Paypal for start with the new customers. They normaly order not so much for test and for trust, as like me.I will not order a lot if goods for start because I can be scammed again. And now I don`t know how to start because WU and MG are to dangerous, such as TT And Alibaba says to choise Alipay and Aliexpress but nobody of supliers a was written for say that theyuse it!(((

So, we usually use the payment method like:
30% deposit when signing the contract and 70% balance to be settled when seeing B/L copy.
In this way, both the seller and the buyer would be much safer. In China, if you want to do business with the suppliers, you should pay the deposit first, or they won't start production for you. Maybe when you deal with them for severial times, they can make an exception. But as the first order, I am afraid non of them would produce goods for you without receiving the deposit.
For other further information that you want to know about payment or other things about dealing with chinese suppliers, you can just send me email: bennylin.export@gmail.com[em2]

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are one of the I/E companies in China dealing with scrap materials since 2004. We used to issue LC for any sizable and regular purchases, but if we are placing trial orders, we usually use bank TT or Western Union. I guess my answer to your question:

1. Western Union has their individual counters in: (all branches of) Agricultural Bank of China, China CITIC Bank, China Postal. So if we need to convert RMBs into USD (or any foreign currencies) and have it wired overseas, we can do it once and for all.
2. To use PayPal, we need to have USDs already converted and deposited into our account. But according to foreign currency policies, any individuals can only change maximum USD50,000 per year of which is far not sufficient for importers like us to pay our suppliers.

I myself have several bad experiences with Western Union. Luckily, one of our offices is located at Shenzhen, Guangdong (adjacent to Hong Kong). So now I prefer to pay my suppliers by sending people to banks in Hong Kong.

Also, paypal chinese version sometimes have problem logging in.

Hope these help.

P.S. We are interested at your scrap metals, grateful if you can send me more information. Looking forward to work with you on long term regular basis.

Best regards,
For and on behalf of

THE ONLY WAY TO TRUST A COMPANY ON ALIBABA.COM IS IF THEY ACCEPT THE BUSINESS PAYMENT METHOD OVER ESCROW.COM!!!!! THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THAT THE BUYER AND OF COURSE THE SELLER ARE ON THE SAFETY SIDE!!!!

ASK THEM ABOUT TO DO THE BUSINESS PAYMENT OVER ESCROW.COM, IF THEY DON'T ACCEPT THIS, THEN YOU CAN BE SURE NOT TO TRUST THEM AND THAT THEY ARE SCAMMERS!!!!

SORRY PEOPLE THIS IS THE WAY I DO!!!!

[em16]I think both parties, the seller and the buyer should use a courier company to do payment as cash on delivery. In this way if the person receiving the goods dont pay then the goods are not released and is sent back to the supplier. The supplier may have to pay a fee but at least you dont lose out completely. As buyers are finding it a problem to deposit money oversees. Bank transfers are not safe as once money is transfer you cant get it back.Although you have a confirmation it is like impossible to trace and submitt a query oversees.
