Why do you travel, what do you look for in a travel destination? Is it the people? Sight seeing? Curiousity? Maybe age has something to do with where you travel and what motivates you. At age 57 I believe that I'm more interested in sightseeing and learning new things about the places I want to see. I'm also concerned about safey and security, especially in today's travel environment. I also think I'm partial to island travel. I like to be near the ocean and love watch the sunsets and have a serene walk on the beach.
Of course I'm also partial to the Island of Okinawa and you'll see me write a lot about it, why because I have a history with the place, and I have family there. I lived there for thirteen years and know the island pretty well. I know the island not only for its tourist attractions, but a lot of its history, and being married to an Okinawan a lot of cutoms and traditions.
It was a big deal for me to be accepted into the family and see how the cultured lived from the other side of the fence. So what motivates you to travel?
For me it is a combination of two things: -new places -new people
I do like remote places, but I could not stand in a marvelous place alone for more than 1 week. And thus new people are the most important thing I get during my travelling.
