Rice
Most land devoted to agriculture in China is devoted to rice production. In addition to supplying the domestic market, China is a well-known source of seeds for rice production in other parts of Asia.

Wheat
Another major agricultural product in China is wheat. Most Chinese wheat is produced in Henan, Shandong and Hebei. Most of China's wheat is of a lower quality and is exported for use in animal feed. Wheat for human consumption is generally imported.

Oil Seeds
Seeds used in cooking oil are another major Chinese agricultural product. Seeds and beans include soy for soya oil and rapeseed for use in canola oil. China produces an estimated 20% of the global supply of rapeseeds.

Cotton
China is the world's largest producer of cotton. After being a net cotton importer, in 1979 China began exporting cotton and has become the world's largest exporter of cotton fibers in 2009.

Tea
Tea originated in China in pre-historic times. China is currently the largest producer of tea in the world, producing an estimated 800,000 tonnes annually. That is over twice the production of Sri Lanka, where Ceylon teas are produced.
