Paying import duty and clearance fees (USPS- CBP)
Post 1 of 3
I have parcels drop-shipped from Japan to the U.S. by USPS and sometimes Customs and Border Protection detains our shipments because the value of its contents is determined to exceed a certain limit.
Is there a way I can pay any import duty and clearance fee? CBP sends a notice to our customer, not to us, the importer.

You need to contact customs directly and find out if a declared value duty can be prepaid.
www.customs.gov
call the 800 number and they can direct you to the right peeps to discuss it with.
But wouldn't it be better for you to have Tak**** send the shipment to YOU at a wholesale rate (lower duty etc) and then you onship to the US customer with a US based invoice? (Assuming of course that these suckers don;t weigh 100 pounds etc)

Thank you for your input.
Repeat orders for the same parts are rare. Drop-shipping is best at this time.
