am i looking in the wrong place
Post 1 of 5
Hi, I'm a licensed customs broker in the U.S. trying to find customers who need a customs broker in the U.S. to clear their goods through customs. I thought that if I started on a website such as this I could find suppliers sending goods to the U.S. but so far most of the suppliers on here either aren't really supplying to the U.S. or are confused as to what a customs broker is needed for. Am I looking in the wrong place? Should I be corresponding with the buyers in the U.S.?
It's a little frustrating to say the least but I'm going to keep trying. I just thought I would ask around and see what the consensus is out there. Let me know what you think?

This is definitely the right place to find new clients for a customs broker. Problem is, a lot of people (particularly americans) on this site do not understand
1- what a customs broker is
2- what a customs broker does
3- that they might actually need one in the first place
Keep your eye on these forums and PMing people who ask these sorts of questions, in addition to your other marketing.
Bare in mind, a lot people here are buying small lots, and that for many people it is their first time trying to import themselves. Be patient with them to win repeat business
Also, please PM me with your email address. I think we are going to need a customs broker in the us soon

Thank you so much for the information. What time are you actually online? I'll keep checking throughout the day and evening. I come on alot in the evenings because I know the other part of the world is just starting their day then. Thanks again.

You want to contact the US BUYERS, not the Chinese (or other) suppliers.
If you are a broker you should understand well enough that the ownership generally passes to the importer when it is loaded onto the ship! So why would you be contacting the Seller to do customs work in the US??????????
Also please note that advertising your services in the forums is strictly forbidden, so please don;t put your email/phone etc on your posts!

Thank you for your reply, and I wasn't aware about the issue of placing my email in the posts being forbidden. There are suppliers globally that are also the importers for the goods arriving into the U.S. in some instances so that is why I was coming to some of the suppliers. I check out the U.S. suppliers and buyers as well, so I didn't leave them out, but thank you for your input nonetheless.
