Why they always ask me lower prices?
Post 1 of 74

I became a salesman of foreign trade already for three months. In this three-month period, I learned a lot of very useful knowledge and pratical operating skills, but now the hardest thing is about quotation. I do not understand why customers always want me to give a lower price, even though I have a very low offer. Who can answer my questions?

As a rule of thumb if you don't ask you will not receive. Thus it is common practice for purchasing managers to ask for better prices even though the prices are already low. In fact most exporters have a margin of profit and also a reserve percentage discount as their best possible price. As once you are exporting it is common practice to always have a better price so one can negotiate with prospective buyers.
I do a lot of trading and usually have a 5% reserve built into the price. If the client ask for better I give in a little. I helps to be flexible and shows that you want to do business.
enough said. Usually a reserve discount will not make your price uncompetitive. So i strongly suggest you do the same.

As I search for products and what their products  cost, I find different compamies different prices trying to

raise the cost. As business people we are very busy. Seeking information on products they like. It is also

ment at as to not waiste time. I had one product selling for 350.00 but when I received his price it was 700.00.

It also show how motivated each person is to make a sale.

I always say I am looking in the price range of 35.00. Can you do better? If not can you explain why your product

is more. When I email for information to a company I want that company to explain why thier product is good or better ,

or saves me money. So just as important is to know the prices is what you can do to better that customer's business.

i think the big problem here is that the other suppliers try to cheat the customers by telling them a false promises about the quality with a very low prices. the big problem here is how to convince your client that they cheat him and you don't especialy in case he don't know both of you personally,

Such an obvious question I'm surprised to see it asked. As a purchaser it would be viewed as "Not doing my job" if I didn't at least ask for a lower price. This is business people and in business the weak die young. You must grow a thick layer of skin to survive!

Get use to buyers asking for a lower price. This is an era of low cost and cheap quality. Anyone can say they have better quality then the next guy but do they really? Trust is for the blind and scams & rip offs are at every door. If one will lie and say their iphone is authentic/original when it's really a cheap copy that doesn't function properly then they will lie about quality, price etc... so why should we believe you when you tell us the quality is better then the other guys hence a higher price.

I can go on and give tons of examples but the reality is people need to grow up, deal with it and adapt. Otherwise I hear Wal-Mart is hiring....

Hello Kathy, I myself have not asked for a lower price in years, but when I was first starting my business I often looked for a lower price simply because I had little money to invest at the time. Over time I found suppliers that I could count on for my product. There were many times that I could have bought at a lower price, but I had found suppliers that I liked. They went the extra mile, because they new that if I was happy with their service and product I would pay them more.

One thing you will always find is someone wanting a lower price. You could be giving it away free and they would want you to pay shipping also. Greed is always a factor for some people, and those people will always want a lower price.

If I like my supplier and their product, then price is secondary. Those that have helped me build my business will continue to get my business. One last thought; some people are simply worried about paying a higher price, because they are worried they will loose their money to an unreliable supplier that will take their money and run.

lower price is one of law in trader. but remember do not give bargain to much, for example. if your cost of product $5 and other seller sell it $15 and you could make opening price $10 if you fix price is $8, you put a logic opening price, as a buyer they duty is bargain, if they saw your price little bit higher, but if you put oping price $15 or even more $25, that is why buyer bargain and as and ask again lower price. my suggestion is better to give fix price, do not ask to much profit, when you make a fix price, you are a good trader, because you need long term business not big profit in one small transaction. look at big company they always put fix price, and wholesale price.

Dear Kathy, try to find out the market price of your product so that you can tell what quotation is suitable. Also, when they ask for lower price, you do not have to give them.
We all have our advantages and behind these advantages there are the costs. If the clients really want to buy great products, money is not the only thing they consider.
