Outlook has many tools and filters to ensure the mailbox is not being used by advertisers or people with vicious device and ill motives.
Since 2003, Microsoft has introduced many such tools to ensure the safety of the user and to protect them from malicious elements such as spywares and spam mails. There is also Parental Guidience protection on the incoming emails.
Outlook blocks emails that are considered JUNK Mails and place them into a Junk Mail Folder. The Junk Mail filter are:
- Safe Sender List (SSL)
- email addresses in the Contracts folders are considered safe senders.
- email addresses of people, who are not in Contacts folder, but whom you often corresponding with.
- Safe Recipient List (SRL)
- If you belong to a mailing list, or distribution list, you can add these names to your SRL.
- If Automatic Picture Download is turned off or to email addresses or domain names in the SSL and SRL are treated as exceptions and contents that is otherwise blocked is downloaded.
- If you have existing lists of safe or blocked names and addresses, you can import the info into Outlook.
- Email addresses are matched exactly and specific address entries take precedence over domain name entries.
- International List (IL) To block unwanted email message that comes from another country or region, or that appear in another language.
- Blocked Top Level Domain List. E.g. select the US [United States], MX [Mexico] check boxes in the list. will block all emails from this country.
- Blocked Encoding List (BEL) This enables you to block all email addresses that are formatted in a specific language encoding, also known as character set.
- BEL enables you to block unwanted international email that is displayed in a language you don't understand.
There are other blocks and email killers, such as Spam blocks, suspicious messages and phishing scheme blocks, banner restriction, graphic blocks, flash block and child filter block.
To make sure your email is being read, make connection with the receiver first, ask their permission to send this email, and also address the name of the receiver, with a clear Subject matter, and from you (identify yourself).
