Aussie, I have not heard from you in probably a year! I thought you moved on or got sick of this mess. Basically I do what I can and tell it like it is.
Thank you Aussie!

Yep, about sick of the mess with Chinese phones.

There's only three factories in China who have the slightest inkling of the meaning of Quality Control on their production lines ... all way up North in Beijing which is where I now get all mine ... double the price of Shenzhen stuff and big MOQ to boot. You know, I've spent the past year investigating dozens of phone factories in Shenzhen ... with feet on the ground there ... one guy with solid phone industry background and the other a factory quality control auditor ... so far no luck!!

Came close to a good find last month ... darn good phone, way way above usual SZ class, but the mother board failed on 20% of them when we put 40 samples to field tests here ... our engineer had to heat up the whole mother board to effectively re-solder the circuits to get that 20% working.

The first SZ factory to make a decent quality dual sim phone will make a fortune ... we figure it would cost them only $5 extra per phone to produce the quality needed in the West ... they don't have the common sense or any perception of the importance of quality to do it. Cheers

I will be in Beijing June 2010, visiting Lenovo and K-Touch for my current position (day job). I know how important it is to have people with years of knowledge in the phone industry, and am blessed to know a gentleman named Steve Nurnberg as a friend and mentor. He was one of the first 40 employees with Verizon back when it was Bell in 1983 and he has turned me onto a friend of his HB with Foxconn. Anyway if I am ever in Australia, China, or at an international mobile phone show we should meet it would be great.

Wishing you all the best in your business!

Yeah Glenn, nothing beats good contacts and I could well be in Beijing when you are there. Would be great to catch up!!

You see, my good wife of 16 years is Beijing-ese so we have strong ties there on her family side (I often say tongue-in-cheek she is the only good thing ever made in China). [em3]

Dunno if you know much about China but the joint is much like Europe - completely different languages and cultures in their many provinces - like I mean, put Beijing-ese and Canton-ese in the same room and its worse then mixing British and French people together - instant shouting match as they virtually hate each other. So, be careful to not say too many good things about Shenzhen and Shanghai when you are in Beijing else they might not shout you the next beer. [em2]
