Shenzhen, it is a big international city which close to HK, a modern city which has so many high and new buildings, a green city which clean and planting, an immigrant city which people from different cities. Shenzhen isone of the fast developing citiesin China! Almost every one in Guangdong is so proud of this city!
But I hated it now!!!
At requested, I went to Shenzhen for inspection and company verify service last week.
Last Thursday evening, I went to have a dinner with a friend in Shenzhen. He drove me to a nice restaurant and we parked his car in a parking lots. We thought it is a toll parking lots, it is also a bank's parking lots.(i mean, it seems safe).
I left my backpack which my laptop, clothings and others were inside in the car boot. We went to the resturant for dinner.(luckly, I took my handbag which i put my wallet and mobile inside with myself)
After some times, we were back to the car and drove to the hotel i will stay. When I got out from the car and wanted to pick up my backpack and found it was empty in the car boot.
It was a big shock!! BIG TROUBLE! We understood it was stolen by the thief already, although we didn't find anything wrong with the car. (the thief should open with a descrambling equipment or something)
We drove back to that parking lots and required the security guard to see the vedio. But he said our car was between two big cars at that time and can't see from the camera. We called the polices, then went to the police station, made some notes and then I went back to my hotel with sadness in the midnight. I understood it won't help, these things happen everyday and everywhere, the policemen are also useless.
I lost all my stuffs. I had an awkward situation but i have to stay for more days to go on my assignments.
The worst thing was all my information in the laptop was missing and can't be found. It was a big lost-information lost, all my efforst and files for several years, like contracts, quotations, products information and pictures, clients's contact informations, accounts, so many important paper.
When I got up the next morning, I still hope it was a nightmare only! But it was a truth which i have to face and accept! I hate that thieve, i hope he went to h e l l.
Since Shenzhen is the big production base of electronic products, many scams are also happens continually for the "branded products" issues.
I got a lot of complaints from alibaba buyers about scams there and Fujian Putian areas also, which they asked me to help, but i can't help with anything. I had to ask them again and again not to buy branded products and also suggest them to have the company verified before cooperation. Now, I wanted to remind any foreign visitors to take care of their luggages and wallet when travel.
I understood it is nothing to do with this city, the thief and scam is everythere. Ijust lost my things in Shenzhen. But i needed to cathartic my anger emotion at this moment as a lady.
I want to use a famous sentence from an old Chinese teleplay for this story as an ending.
If you love him/her, send him/her to Shenzhen(in the teleplay, it is new york), it is a heaven there. If you hate him, send him/her to Shenzhen also, it is a h e l l there.
Sorry to hear about your loss, Jasmine! Apparently you had very important info on your laptop, and that hurts a lot. What I’m not quite sure is if you want to say that the security guards and police are corrupt or if they were either not well prepared or you were just unlucky.
In any case, it looks like you can only use this loss to learn from it. Get a carrying case with shoulder strip for the laptop and never use it as the only storage for info. Whatever you do at the clients place, back it up via internet as soon as possible. Maybe the client can facilitate you the access. If they give you a strange look upon your request, explain what happened.
Regarding cell phones, I’ve given them up a few months ago. They are nothing but tiny microwave ovens – literally! They slowly fry your brain, causing cancer and other health problems. People gave me a strange look when I announced that I wouldn’t use cell phones anymore, but they got used to it and nothing bad happened in the end. So what do you want them for anyway? They are just a cute fad.
Hope you recover soon from this loss! ![]()
