A.Sample and freight to be paid by buyer

B.Sample free and freight to be collected

C.Sample free and freight paid by seller

I think freight should be paid by buyer at least .

I'm importer from Australia is true you cannot send sample to all cusomters around World. But if customer ask for sample and postage cost is not huge, and you can see by internet this customer can be good business: I think can be good investment. If you suppliing already famous customer send to them picture or sample of what you produce for them. It will mka ebig impact. In this case you can usually make up in price increase maybe 5% on thier order. Tell them your quality is higher and that is why famous brand choose you, but quality = cost. i think before clients place order, supplier can not have profits.
so they want clients pay the sample fee,but supplier can not ask for more than it's value.
as usual, the sample fee should be the cost of the sample,supplier should not earn money form the sample.
for there will be more clients ask for sample to suppliers,so supplier can not offer free sample.
most important is supplier offer clients sample as soon as possible when clients ask for sample.

samples can be free, and the supllier paid the freight in advance. When the client place the order , the supplier can add the freight to the order.

[em2]in my opinion if the buyers are very interested in your products, he do not care about the freight fee of sample, as it is not a big number for him. However the suppliers need to meet lots of other clients from all over the world, and if they pay every freight cost of samples, there would be a much number of expenditure every year. So on the sincerity of business, and for the first business, i think the buyer should pay for the freight fee, and the supplier should produce the sample for free. For old clients of suppliers, the factories certainly would supply the samples for fully free including the freight cost.

In my opinion,if the sample is not very expensive,less then the freight fee,we can send it for free,but if it is expensive,we won't for free.

I think it depends on situation, sometime it should be free and sometime to charges..
For me, (based on working on other office not on alibaba), sample for new product will be free for the cust with good relationship up to the present. On contrary, it should need to be charged for a new customer...Nevertheless, a new cust whose long term relationship is highly expected probably deserves free sample( if the product is not too expensive) because he or she must pay the delivery for sure. I think it should be most fair....

By the way, i wish all the guys here(including me) have only save and positive experiences

No, I do not agree all the samples policy above, it is too simple.


You should set the policy on different step:

1 New customer (What kind of sample policy)

2: Old customer (What kind of sample policy)

3: If they paid the money for sample, what kind of condition you will return them.

4: Once what kind of degree of business you have dealed then you will offer the regular samples for development in free charges.

5: First time, how many times you will send the samples with charges, but how many times have no order then you will reject send to again.


All the points you should consider about it, then list a rules, send to the customer.

I think this is fair and reasonable system, the customer will understand it.


Now many customer will be interested in the first time they will pay the charges for samples, but after the order you should return, of course it is base on the amount or quantity of the order. then you send the regular samples for their development.


If they feel the cooperation with you is smoothly, they will prefer the business with you only, no need change, because they change a new supplier, they will have to face many question against the changing.


Anyway, the quality is best important, the quality is good, and let the customer win the money, the samples charges is little case to them [em2].

 

Base on this princple: Your customer can be strong, then you will. If you have the real problem, do not worry to tell them, if they really do not wanna do with you, also do not be disheartened, because it is not due to your quality of products.
