In my opinion, there is no need to worry about the quality too much. 

Firstly, China has more than 30 years of  manufacturing experience and the whole technic levels has improved so much. The quality is not so bad as many foreign customers think before.

Secondly, every trader has the common sense that good quality will benefit both parties for long term, especially in the conditions economy recession, reputation is so important to manufacturer. All the traders are not doing business at one time.

You can see this from small commodities markets everywhere very simply! Our first feeling is that the quality of products in small market must be bad, but actually, the quality is as good as that you buy in the supper market. Nowadays, many common people have the sense of quality. To buy things, price is no longer the first factor.

The quality is deeply impressed in people's heart and good quality will benefit both buyer and seller. Many factories prefer to sacrifice a little, rather then do harm to customers. I think this is common in China and in the world.

Some companies have learned their lesson indeed and produce high quality, but not all of them are 30 years old. Just browse through the forums and you'll see that low quality (besides scam) are still pretty frequent. Don't let your love for your country blind you. Quality is a very serious matter and you can never give up enforcing it.

 Quality attaches importance to a company's future, i think we all should pay more attention to product quality. Only better quality can  make customer touched.

Quality is not simple matter,maybe is cosmetic,maybe is function,so we must know more about entire product,

Quanlity is essential to the customers!

Your opinion you are entitled to, in China poor quality (and safety) maybe acceptable for EU, Japan, USA it is not, if Chinese happy then good.
30yrs of manufacturing means nothing. I can make rubbish for 30yrs does not mean people will buy. If China took some knowledge from the Japanese then i can take my hat off to you. But 30yrs of manufacturing and still you get bad press and opinions not just the west but even Chinese laugh about how bad the products (including food safety) is in China.
China has now got this reputation for poor quality and unsafe products everyone has been tarred by the same brush even though i know very good products and businesses in China.
I live in China i visit Chinese factories from very good to very bad. I have been working in CE marking and Quality for 20 yrs. You i believe have come out of University will little environment knowledge and i see it time and time again in China.Well done you went to University but please get some real experience from real world and take you head out the clouds.

Chinese has dozens of millions of business company and the quality is for the importers the most thing to care about

i have to say, within a certain region, like in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, the quality is generally guaranteed.
