Dear Julia,
Can you please help me, we are mattress manufacturers in Turkey and I have a sales lead to Africa. We have agreed to the price but the African client has sent me an e-mail with their payment terms as below - IS THIS TRUE? Is there no other way to do business to Africa?
"......Please, advise us your pro-forma invoice on a basis of CNF Libreville – Gabon port, to enable us to carry our final confirmation before submitting to our Financial Institute.
Here is our condition and trems of payment:
We discard the idea of L/C or T/T in Advance, due to L/C attract high rate of duties, much delayance, over worriness in it and we have to pay 10% from the total invoice value as a tax to our bank.
Our Financial Institute restriction can’t authorize any foreign transfer without any evidential documents, so we have 100% payment by copy B/L and Cargo Registration Note.
As soon as your proforma invoice is submitted to our bank they would prepared the fund to transfer and issue us the copy authority of payment, which we will send to you for your confirmation, payment release within 48 hours upon the reciept of the copy B/L and the Cargo registration Note, as soon as you recieved your our fund payment you can then send to us through any courier service the original relative documents."
