Hi there, I would really like to start up a business supplying accessories stores in south africa with handbags, jewellery etc. I would like to import from china and supply accessories stores in south africa. Does anyone have advice for me on where I should go in china for handbags ans accessories and how difficult it is to start up a business. Please,, any advice would be fantastic. I just don't know where to start and where to go. What is a good market to concentrate on? ie: handbags/ jewellery?

lets see, take handbags for example, you can search alibaba for registered suppliers, know more about the company, ask for quotation and see what the minimum order quantities are, pay for some samples if necessary, and see what the market feedbacks are.  Or you can get some "left over stocks", which sometimes are cheap, like a gamble.

You shuld vestigate the market when you purchase from China.

Hi, am jacques m from DR CONGO from my advises you should start with small items which has less weight like eg: iPHONES, Parckaging and paper products ( ask for your Country Logo as sample ), and the last one may be the MP3 or USB FLASH DRIVE but please do not be in harry when searching in ALIBABA these mean you should sellect a number of suppliers and ask their quotation and then compare the price and the quality of products then dicede . What price level and quality level handbags you need for your accessory store? Different markets define different price and level. You can first search on Alibaba to contact some suppliers, if their styles and prices are suitable for you, you can get the sample and quotation. The more suppliers you contact, the more clear you will be for where to go in China. Basically, ZheJiang YiWu and GuangZhou are good choices. You can start from these 2 cities first. Also, the suppliers are very friendly and helpful. They would like to be your local guide which is necessary for you.

My suggestion for you is start your business at Guangdong province.Because it enjoys convenient air,water and land transportation.Secondly Guangdong has a long history of export.So it market would be better.
