I am a new company in South Africa. I got a nice order from my customer and I was ready to order on Friday from my supplier and she sent me the PI.

Something did not look right, so I google the company name. The name on the invoice is the Chinese name and nothing is in google or Alibaba. I check the english name and there are 2 people complaining about a scam. Now I was worrying big time.

So i start reading everything I can to learn how to check out the suppliers. I have a friend who is Chinese and he called the supplier and is now going there to check on them.

Is this good enough? What else can I do to protect myself? This supplieris cheap but not the cheapest. She is using hotmail not company email. First she ask for Western Union but I said no. So now i get bank details

, but it is not company account because the beneficiary name is the manager name? Is this right?

I think it is good to audit the suppliers by a person who is trusty to you

It is always difficult to put the first step, right?
