There is now a technology to run acu by solar power, The savings is about 50%, Please check on this data:

 

12,000 BTU/H aircon unit without solar and 10 hrs/day operation,    Power used in 4 months period = 1860 KWH

12,000BTU/H air con unit with solar and 10 hrs/day operation,          Power used in 4 months period =  960 KWH 

                                 SAVINGS = 1860-960 = 900 KWH

In our place, the cost per KWH is about 10 pesos, therefore this will translate to about (900 x 10)/(4) = 2,250 pesos/month

I never want to dash anyone's dreams but I think you are missing the point on this one a little bit.  Yes the economy is down but new technologies that save on energy are usually pretty expensive these days.  People need immediate cost saving today usually and that is what will help you get a sale sooner than later.

Also, do something you know.  It seems you don't know anything about energy saving alternatives.  By the time you finally get around to finding a product and fully understanding it so that you can sell it, the economy could have turned for the better.  It is worth looking into though for future reference.

What you need to do is find products that are commonly used everyday but find alternatives that are potentially cheaper to replace what is already being used.  You typically are not going to find that in everyday items that people use at home.  Where you could find it is certain commodities.  For example, soy bean oil is the basis of alot of products made out there.  One day came along palm oil and it could do the same thing but was produced cheaper and in bulk as well.  It created an alternative to soy bean oil that was cheaper, similar qualities and could be used to produce the same things.

So in a down economy, look for ways to save the business money that you sell to.  They are looking for ways to make more with less.
