I recently just out of curiosity asked a Trust Pass member based here in the USA for copy paper prices. They provided me with a list on the 12th May 2009 with delivery from mainland China. I contacted them again on 22nd May 2009 to confirm the minimum order, they send me a price list again with an increase by 4%. I asked why such increase within this short period? This is the reply I got as per their email to me a copy can be provided to authenticate;
China has run out of wood pulp. The last of Chinese supplies has been bought up, so the future supplies for the time being, are having to be bought in the international market. This is the complete reason for the increase in price.
Can members provide some insight on this statement? China is a vast country with resources, within one week supplies cannot run dry.
