Replying to [kimtan]:

As I have seen so many times, people think a low price means the product is bad or the seller is a fraud. To my experience fraudulent sellers want to deal in high quantity at high prices and payment upfront.

Replying to [David Frencken]: I know there are many dishonest sellers in Beijing, but my bad experience very minor. a seller sold me a bottle of water twice expensive than normal, and i didnt buy it. i think if i am westerner, they dare to chage me triple or more.

but my experience is that this bad thing usally happen in trouist district, not factory. many sellers in trouist district think you only go there once and never come back, so they will cheat you as much as they can. but fatory need to build long term relationship with you.

Replying to [SLCC]:No No No - In most/all Western countries, there are laws and authorites that will prosecute people who are corrupt and steal from othersw, Chine should do the same. Until then, get a good agent, a good lawyer and always remember...."Its your money Ralf" (Australian phrase).

Replying to [katiekat]:Loverly story Katiekat, but given all the comments from people who have had dealings in China, you are perhaps a little ignorant and naive

Replying to [David Frencken]: Well 1st of all "fool me once once shame on you fool me twice shame on me.” I hope whoever you are doing business with isn’t a street vendor. You can go to Canal St. in NYC (New York City) and have the same experience I wouldn’t condemn an entire nation over this trip.

Although I appreciate you making this public, your project coordinator should have made you aware of this fact.

In any city, in any part of the world you can expect to have a similar experience if you’re in a tourist area.

One example… in Paris you can buy brand name perfume for $10 that’s nothing more than modified runoff water.

Kind Regards,

John Tovatt

Replying to [Bearded Bear]:
I am neither ignorant or naive, and of course people DO get scammed (not me, i am actually lucky, believe it or not, some people are just lucky!).

It is human nature to let everyone know if there is a bad deal, the people who get great deals from china probably just dont post.
"I bought a shipment of underpants at reasonable price from china and they are good quality and arrived on time" does not make very exciting reading.....

Guess it is just be careful and dont tar everyone from one country with the same brush.

cheers
