Well, it is a puzzle, and the only way you are going find out is if you call him or her and ask them why they did not choose you. This is quite acceptable and you may find out something important. Is your competition bad mouthing you? Do they have a specific problem with your product? Was it easy to deal with you? Did the other company offer a value added service for free that you did not?

Unless they are just plain rude, they will most likely tell you want you want to know. What they will not tell you is if the order was given to a friend or internal associate, or if there was a pay off to the decision maker.

There are a LARGE number of reasons that this can happen. Some of them are honest some are not.

Honest reasons:

As previously mentioned the other seller may have had a value added service (ie warranty, discounts on future orders, etc.) that made his product more attractive than yours.

Similarly, the seller may have coupled the pricing of mutliple items together such that the sum price was cheaper from this one seller than it would have been to purchase from you and another seller (for the other items).

He may have felt more comfortable with that seller (remember a buyer must feel comfortable).

Not dishonest but not honest:

The buyer may know someone at the seller (or the buyer may have an associate the knows someone at the seller).

Someone unrelated to the seller may have told the buyer about bad experiences with you (remember an unhappy customer tells 10 other people about their bad experience, a happy one tells 4 about their good).

Dishonest:

The other seller may be bad mouthing you

There may be bribes or kickbacks involved

The seller may pay a the buying orchestrator a commission (essentially a kickback to this decision maker, illegal in most places I think).

If the situation is completely honest and the buyer had a legit reason for choosing the seller, you should be able to ask why you were not chosen. For example, you could just ask:

Buyer,

I regret the fact that I was unable to earn your business. As such, would you please advise me as to why you chose the other seller over me. So that I will not miss out on future oportunities. Please do not hold back in your criticisms as they will only serve to help me improve my business.

Sincerely,

you.

The simple answer is that is not your Luck ! You must seeing your competitor products offerred, did your competitor products give value addedd. Maybe their offering easy / advantages payment than yours, give warranty and support for after sales products, etc. We needs to put some advantages valued for our products. It's not only cheapest Prices... So, i thoughts your competitor have valued addedd....

if your two companys' products have the same quality, there is no reason for your client to choose your competitor instead of your company, which price is higher than yours.unless you have not had your client know much more about your product such as quality.

I think there are a couple of possibilities why he did not select your business.
1.  He may have thought that the higher price was more valuable and made a decision too quickly without catching on to your better price.
2.  He may have like the method of the selling pitch that your competitor said to him about something that you did not know or use.
3.  He probably just like the competitor better.
However, don't stress yourself over it or loose any sleep.  There are many other customers always around!  Good Luck to you and your business.
