Most companies on these B2B websites are scam artist. They have fake addresses and phone numbers. Check to see if their phone and fax number are the same, what's up with that. If they give you a cell phone number, think about this. Do you know of any companies with 50 to 100 employee's and the only way to contact them is through the CEO's cell phone. Why is the CEO of a company the contact person, think about it.
Google one of these big successfull companies names and phone numbers. You'll find that they only exist on the B2B websites, and their phone number is invalid or belongs to some little old lady.
If their contact information is false, report them to the B2B website owners and have them removed, before them scam someone else. I've had about 10 companies remove in the past 3 weeks.
Ask these B2B website owner to implement a rating system like Ebay. Stop the Scammers

Can someone help me Please. I had hired a company from Hong Kong to manufacturer my shirts. To my surprise I recently realised that the company I hired was not the actual manufacturer but an agent. I really need to find out how I can look up the RN number on my label and see who the actual manufacturer is. I woulod really appreciate any help. I have read the first thread but still did not find a database or something that can help me find out who is manufacturing my products. My agent is giving me the run around with bogus company names.

Thanks

Something to share with you all:A Israel customer contacted me through my MSN left on Alibaba community, gave me a list of suppliers who provide N95 mobile phone and Apple Ipod Nano in China, and asked me to help him to investigate them,He need the original. I have seen a lot of people complained that they were scammed on these two items. maybe some international brand products are made in Chinese factories, but the factories do not have the selling rights normally.as well-known,international brand products are a higher price in China than some countries.

Anyway,I told this customer the following steps:

  1.  Google search with the key word of company name.

2.       To tell the suppliers:  No deposit,or a visit will be paid by a chinese representative before deposit

3.       State to suppliers: goods inspection will be arranged before balance payment

4.       I will call the suppliers who passed or accepted the 3 items above

The result is that there are only two suppliers who can pass the step1.2.3 .I called the two,but they said they just can provide the copy instead of the original that they declared to my customer. More interesting is that the two were just on duty on Chinese nighttime, they said that was just to meet the working time of oversea customers.maybe you need some help.contact me at joezhou2(at)gmail(dot)com.Hope this is a little helpful to you.

[em9] I think there is no a minimum value for the chinese gov t i think the reseane  they sent you less value on your invoice is for shipping ins or taxes reasene and to check  chinese  supplier for small quantity  you really taking a risk but if you really  know what you are looking for and a large quantity  it is worthed a trip there pay for it and ship it before you leave so you are in save side Quoting from [vpekk]:

The tips below are written by Alibaba members and do not represent Alibaba’s views on this topic. Buyers who want to import from China can refer to these member’s tips when dealing with suppliers from China.

1. Check their contact information

In order to avoid being traced by law enforcement authorities, most scammers will not offer genuine registration information online. They will provide a false company address, telephone number and fax number or persuade buyers to contact them by mobile phone only. Check their company registration information by search engine to see if it is a real company.

2. Check their company registration number

Legal companies in China have to register with the Chinese government authorities and obtain a unique company registration number. If your business partner cannot offer you a unique company registration number, it is risky to deal with them. To check the registration number your supplier provided, you need to visit their local administrative government website with the number they provided. However, you should be aware that most government websites in China are in written Chinese. You can also contact their local Bureau of Industry & Commerce, which is the only government organisation responsible for the registration of legitimate companies or enterprises in China. You can ask friends in China to help you verify this company. You can also use a third-party authentication service company in China to help you verify information.

3. Incredibly low prices

Most Chinese scammers will lure buyers with very low prices. If the prices they offer are too good to be true, you should investigate why their prices are so low. Most scammers in China make a profit by selling replicas or fakes of branded goods to overseas buyers. This is very risky because the goods will be confiscated or detained by Chinese customs if they are considered illegal in China.

4. Payment and shipment terms

The scammers never accept L/C as a term of payment. They prefer Western Union, and T/T etc. They also never deliver goods through formal channels; preferring instead to deliver samples Express by Fedex, TNT, EMS to avoid examinations from Chinese customs.

5. Warranty and after sale services

Scammers never guarantee their quality and after-sales services after your payment. However, they may promise you a lot before payment.

Additionally, manufacturers don’t have the right to sell or buy unless they have obtained a legitimate unique company number from their local BIC in China. In China, all enterprises with the right to import and export have to apply and obtain a certificate called the “Certificate of Import & Export” from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. This certificate may also be authorized by local organisations in China after a company’s registration at their local BIC. A formal trade company has to register with the Chinese Customs House and its branches before formally trading with foreign counterparts in China. They also have to register themselves with their local Bureau of Inspection & Quarantine in case their products are in need of quality control. Without the registration from the above local government authorities, no company can deal with you through formal channels in China. Contact me for details if you need information about verification and other business services in China.

what  is the phone number or fax number to contact this chinese ministry of commerce to be able to check out a companies lisence number?

Replying to [leighinmohr]: Dear friend, Telephone No. is absolutely not the registration No. of a company. the registration No. of a chinese company should be made up of 13 digits. First two means province or municipality, second two are for city, third two are for county or district belongs to a city, the seventh are for the character of the company, private company or state company or sino-foreign joint venture company etc. the last 6 are for series No. Hope my message would be helpful. good luck!

Very helpful Johney, many thanks
