Post 1 of 3
We are a company mainly produce Circulating Pumps .We have the Certificate of CE,ISO9001,CCC and Rohs. But we do not get the UL.You know it is much money for us to apply for UL.However, with the develop of our company,We have several clients from North America and they are interesting in our products very much.
As you know the Market of North America (Canada,Mexico and America) have requests for us to sell pumps. They need the Certificate of UL. So our Chairman Mr.Han request us to apply UL as soon as possible.
We start to apply the Certificate of UL from Oct.2006,
first we find some representatives of UL .We ask them to quoted price to us,so that we can chose the perfect one. It lasts a long time.Including giving the application to UL,let the engineer of UL quoting a price for us basising the application.
It is first time for our company do Certificate of UL,so we put almost all of products in the application. So when the quotation comes to our hand.It is cost much money. After the discuss with our customer,we decided to reduce our products to four types. We chose four types which is popular in North America...... We get the new quotation and paid the money to UL.
From April 2007 to May 2007,we are prepare the samples.Because it is our new products,we need time to make new Mold and test.In the middle of June 2007,we send the four types of our Pumps to UL.Now we are waiting for the result. And we need present many documents to UL,Including Circuit diagram & Layout,Explode drawing,UL Critical Component,Use Manual......
We still waiting for the result of UL,have good luck everybody

Replying to [Violet-Wang]:

When you want a UL certificate, always get a second competitive price from another test lab which is certified to do UL tests.

UL themselves are very very expensive. Some of their quotes I have seen are ridiculously over priced.

And, depending on the sort of product, a manufacturer can often "self certify" that the product meets UL standards - don't be bullied into paying for over priced UL tests unless you absolutely must have the certificate for either legal or marketing reasons. Much homework is needed to sort out the actual legal requirements. [em1]
