Hello everyone,

I have found a number of good suppliers of these 49cc gas scooters that I want to import into the US. I am getting prices from around $350-$450, which is good because I can easily sell them for $750 here. The problem I am running into is that I need a 'freight forwarder' to ship them into the US for me and the price quotes I have been getting are just crazy. I just got a quote today for these 2 sample scooters I want to buy. They wanted $750 to ship them to my closest port! So it seems that unless I can find someone that can help me, I am not going to be able to do this.

Do you guys have any advise for me?

Thanks,

Patrick

Before you even start on this one have you confirmed with all the US depts that the scooters you wish to import complay with federal and state laws?

Start with the FTC.

Your competitors must be importing this item by the container loads and not merely a few pcs. If you want your transportation cost to go down, try buying by the container load.

The quotes that you received are pretty good but it is always to better to buy in bulk.  You have to establish at least 20 orders and ship via contianer rates rather than indivdual 2 scooters at a time.  If you need help I'm a freight forwarder let me know and I will try and cost you out on the rates.
