I know there are lots of people doing business with Germans , but in my point of view, the Germans are so serious about one thing that may even lead to the deadlock. I once discussed with a friend about how to communicate with Germans to achieve the business goal , she said Germans are sensitive with colors ,so we could push out the sharp - color products .

But that didn't make sense for my question , so anyone know how to deal with Germans ? Are there any rules to obey?

Thanks

We germans, even in other countries, do not like to waste time. When sending e-mail to us, please, be the most direct possible. We want to know your company name, address, phone, fax and total product specification. I do not know HOW IS POSSIBLE that after Phillip Cotler published so a wonderful book named MARKETING, people do not know that a good presentation on every e-mail is the key to lead to a good first impression!!!! They just send e-mail under HOTMAIL or similar, put the word WE WANT TO BUY, sign the first name and than we are obligued to know WHAT THE CLIENT WANT!!!! Crazy! I would like to know what kind of school degree this kind of people have! (UNDERSTAND KNOW, WITH THE ABOVE DESCRIPTION, WHA WE GERMANS THINK!!! - AND DIRECTLY ON THE KEY!!!)

Well, being a former German myself I must say that Germans typically do have the good qualities you mention, but they are also typically quite unforgiving when it comes to being different from them.

It took me the travel to about 15 countries plus contacts with many more countries to realize that this little patch of land between the Alps and the North Sea isn't the whole world and that people everywhere are different from each other. And most Germans have to learn how to live with this fact.

But they are indeed typically honest, direct, reliable, etc., and maybe these qualities will help others deal with them. Though it's always good for everybody to remember that it's just as far from here to there as from there to here, if you know what I mean. [em3]

I think Germans have pushed business to the edge during the past few decades. German sellers are superbly nice and knowledgeable people as long as you buy anything from them and German buyers are sometimes very rude and are a strain as long as you owe anything to them. However no nation on Earth is perfect. In short, German partners will appreciate correctness, precision and quick response as well as product and market knowledge, while they do not insist on hospitality or good personal contacts as much as for example a Middle Eastern or an Italian partner would. Also they are not as keen on haggling generally. So if you want to have good partnership with Germans, always be well prepared, efficient and reliable; but you are not supposed to make friends with them.

Hi
The German language is not very friendly on the ear (sorry guys but this is true, I am Afrikaan not much better), a lot of hard harsh sound and their "accent" also comes across when they speak English. Germans are not really rude or angry, it just sounds that way. They are very professional and expect you to be the same.
