Much has been reported recently about issues surrounding climate change, and the effect this might have on agricultural land. Reports have claimed once arable farming land has been lost due to rising tempratures.

Is this a concern for traders in agriculture, or do you see climate change having no real impact on your business?

Have you got any evidence as to whether climate change is really having an effect around the world?

Hi Admin,

Any variation in production, availibility, quality, etc. of the good we trade will have an effect on its price, salability, etc., and that of course means that somehow we are affected.

For example, as a consequence of the global climate change we now have (again) early rains in the Mexican state of Chihuahua. That means that production goes up, that means that prices should come down, but that also means that now it's more feasible to export, and that could mean that prices won't come down...

The global climate change is really moving the carpet for many traders, and that means, yes, there is quite some influence.

Anybody  who is involved with Agriculture has to pay attention to to this issue.  Supplies and markets of various items may change in a big way and that is just the tip of the melting ice burg.

Dear Friend

I think Climate is very important for traders of agriculture items due to following resions:-

1. It changes the period of sales for these traders due to early monsoons.

2. Due to it the areas of farming are changing changing the usage patterns of cusotmer.

3. Climate change is having such crops being grow in areas which was not possible early.

4. This is also changing the nature of soil which further change the consumption pattern.

5. Climate also have destroyed the growth of crops in many areas further affecting the agriculture product traders.

6. In countries where technologies are not very developed there climate is single biggest factor.

I think it is true, but only confine to developing countries. Developed countries always have their method and technology to hide away. As in one of my post i have mentioned, developed countries like the USA, even their main farming area is situated in climatically sterile land, e.g. the Southern California, they can develop well under the help of advanced technology.....however, for farmers in Africa for example, they can do nothing against Global Warming and Desertification which in turn make their produce drop drastically....so, in my opinion, global warming is a severe blow to developing countries' farmers, whilst to developed countries' farmers......it simply acts as a chance for them to raise their products price...

Hope can answer your question[em7]

The answer is simple. the climate changes affect productivity. in the short term the less developed countries are affected more. in the long term the costs of growing any plant increase exponentially for any country. Because all that the food prices will go up( right now the fertilizers costs are growing rapidly). If you trade a more expensive good, and earn 1% in the transaction, you will earn more.
