Exactly. Don't be greedy. I find many suppliers try to give very high prices. Why would I buy your chicken for $5 and for freight, insurance, import duty, VAT, cleareance fee, warehousing, so that I can sell it for $5. That's just ridiculous.
So how do i know the product should be less than $5. Because my supplier imports from China, pays all the expenses listed above and sell to me for less than $5.
if my supplier can get it for $5, then there is likely hood I should be able to get it for less than $5 too. I might not be as cheap as them, but still less than $5.

yeah , i totally agree with your opinion. getting a lowest price does not mean get the best prices.
getting the best quality is more important than that. but unfortunately most of the buyers are only pursuing getting lower price.
and after they faced with some of quality problem , they begin to consider about realation between lowest price and quality.
i would like to emphasize the quality field , it is even valuable than price .
at the first contract , they could get attractive price , but it is not long term , it can not keep the situation.
hope buyers to recognize the point...

You know your target market wants $5 chickens but the supplier you contact probably doesn't so he quotes you for their chicken quality.
