I am registered here since 2 years ( I think so)  at Alibaba.com...

I have received a lot of requests for quotations ... THANK you Alibaba !

But almost 80 % of the people who asked for  copper cathodes, had no idea about trading copper ... (better LME registered copper cathodes)

* some are asking 15 % discount on LME registered copper cathodes

* some are asking 10 % commission on LME registered copper cathodes

* some are asking CIF XXX-port (far east) payment 8 days after unloading and inspection by SGS ( on LME copper cathodes ... ) ...

* some are asking for payment by L/C ... based on which price ?

LME copper cathodes are always priced according the LME price of day of delivery, plus fixation costs ... nothing can change this rule !

There are a lot of "agents" with absolutely NO money in their pocket ... just want to cash 10 % commission ... ... and the factory, exporter should take the whole risk - and they want to cash 10% ... to tell us "a customer" ... ??

THEY have all no idea that trading LME cathodes is connected with less than 1% profit - if you take the whole risk !

BUT - LME trading is safe business, the brands are certified, the "real" clients know how to trade, funds and TT is not the issue ....

So, "Wannabees" should stay outside the copper biz ... 

as long as they are "trading" - African Copper cathodes, which will never arrive, just on paper - they should go on ...

Does it mean that someone shld not trade copper if he is a novice? I am abt to go into this business of exporting Copper Ore and not copper cathode form Africa.

What do you reckon is the best way for a 1st timer then? Thanks.

Sorry for my late reply ... but i was not online for some time at Alibaba !

Of course you can do business in Copper cathodes, even this is your first deal in this biz.

(everybody started some day) .. but you should get some good advise from a company, who is already long time in this Cu cathode trading. Otherwise you will waste weeks and month of time !

Cu prices are going through the roof, premiums are rising as well (premium is an amount on the top of LME cash settlement price, for immediate physical delivery, depends on the country of delivery), because there is more demand than supply  - but somebody is asking for cathodes with 25% discount, and on top the figure for commission .... - no comment.

Alibaba should really check, what is posted on their B2B website ...

otherwise, in a few weeks, month - this website will be just a "joke-site" for serious traders.
