You accidently hit the send button before you are finished with an email and you feel stupid and you look unprofessional. I know that google had got a “undo send” button on the cards, but in the meantime this is what I do to prevent this from happening.
You add the receivers email address at the very end, in other word after you have completed the email, that way if you accidently send the email it goes nowhere.

It would be easy for us to pontificate and act knowledgeable.

1.  Google does provide but its just a momentary delay. There is a site available that permits you to send it as future mail (www.in.com) 
2. The solutions would advise you to do this and do that but inculcation of habits on how you send the mail would sort this problem you could change the way you begin the email by adding the address first.
3. This is anyway an error that all of us still face and live with it i usually go to the sent folder try an pick it up and then send If it has been delivered but usually i do get a message

Gmail labs has a new feature unleashed recently,
You can actually undo the sent email , unless you get the idea
within 5 seconds after hitting send button.
I know this is a very short time to realise the mistake, but sometimes it is very helpfull.
The other way led by you i.e adding the email address at the end is obviously what I will prefer now onwards thanks, & alos try Gmail Labs new tool UNDO.let me know of your opinion.Thanks

I have tried the new undo button on gmail, but as you said, it only gives you 5 seconds, maybe I am just a bit slow, it will be much better if they give you 10 seconds
