I would like to ask is it ethical for a company to refuse an order for $3000 from a young company.
I recently placed an order with a company (2nd order) and was refused on the grounds that they already have a dealer in my country?
Is this the normal way of operating in China?
To refuse small orders in favour of large ones?
The Chinies company are right when he have his agent in his country he is bound to not give his goods to any others so dont mind get from other suplaire

I apologize you on his behalf, because I am also Chinese.Today,it's the market of buyer but not supplier.Searching any kind of seller you want.If the supplier is not loyal, you should remove them from your supplier list.
As u mentioned the Chinese company has an agent in your country. I think the Chinese company did the right thing in this case.If someone has dealer or represetative then it is unethical to sell to someone else.
But on the other hand if he has no representative and refuses just because of the quantum of order is small then he shoud rethink over it .
Hi, very common. Most companies like at least a $10,000 order. At the trade show about 2 years ago most would not even talk to me unless I bought a container or more for a 1st order. Most companies I have bought from my 1st order has been wrong and had problems. That is why I like the 1st few orders to be a little smaller to work out the problems. But your problem is if they find another seller that they feel they can make more money with they will almost always go for them. If they were any good at all they would tell their new buyer to work with you and give you a discount but if you have only bought 1 time and only 3,000 I would not think they would care at all. It has happened to me by Kipor Generators after buying from them Many times and I did buy a container at a time and bought from them for several years and went through their growing pains screwing up my orders, giving me machines that did not work and late shipments they did not care. Some just have no ethics. At the same time I also have found some companies that are Very Good, A pleasure to work with. I have made a few friends that I will keep for life. If you are a smaller buyer it is difficult but keep trying and you just might find the right company to work with you must just be careful.
