Dear Dick

You are very right with your point that university is very important. It will decide your course, liabrary you get access to, activities you get to participate, people (teacher, students) you interact with.

But, my point stays. Good university students do get appointed to better posts due to there mark sheets, but it is not guatantee that they will carry their work well.

Though a good degree from a good university is very important and a valuable asset but being successful is much more to that.

What are the chance of getting a screwed up guy in the top post with a non-graduate, and the same position with someone with a degree in the same major?

Does (Is) a good Management degree a (an) essential (missing object) for success.

This speaks for itself, the type of MBA produces such results. You only judge a tree by its fruits. An olive tree cannot bear oranges, and that's basically the whole matter. A donkey is a donkey, and you cannot make it into a race horse.

My question was not answered, since you raise the point that you are an MBA graduate. If you have said so, then it will be an honor to share this with us as from which University and what year is your convocation?

1. WHAT ARE THE COURSES OFFERED BY Manipal University?

Manipal University is offering courses in Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, Information Sciences, Management, Communication & Media Studies and Hospitality.

Obviously these are the BA or BSc courses, not a single clue about the MBA or MSc courses.

I think management degree plus experience would be best. But actually doing business in the real world, as opposed to 'reviewing case studies' in a classroom, is the toughest test. Ultimately success usually calls for a combination of management knowledge (which may be acquired with experience plus a bit of self-study - for those non-degree holders), persistenc, integrity, and real hard work (or working smart), and in many cases luck do come into play i.e right time, right place, right people. Some things are still beyond our control - remember the last big tsunami..?[em10]
