The humble apple is associated with many things that are important and some references are made to it that is unique and rather give tribute to this fruit.

It was Eve who took the forbidden fruit first, and she gave it to Adam.

Men are always fool-hearted when it comes to women. The women are cursed with child-bearing and the labor-pains.

We are not told it is an apple, and Adam's apple is the street-name for the lump at the man's throat.

I would add

10. "The Big Apple" -- a nickname given to New York City.

11. "...as American as apple pie."

12. "...mixing apples and oranges": comparing things that should not be compared.

The bite of the apple, refers to the logo of the Mac and the Apple Inc.

The Big Bite Of the Apple, is the Safari 3 browser, promised to be twice the speed of the IE7 and 1.6 times of Firefox 2. Safari 3 is promised to support all modern internet standards, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SVG and Java. Safari software updates are delivered through Apple’s Software Update application, which automatically checks for updates.

Safari was noted as just the second product – after iTunes – to deliver the Apple user experience to Windows and Mac users along with full support of open Internet standards.

The other bite, launched with fanfare by Steve Jobb, is the IPHONE. Apple is taking leaps ahead of the competitors in the MP3 and MP4 player market, and has ventured into a new media, the wireless telecommunication.

Quoting from [Dick Moby]: Hi Dick,  how about "Newton's Apple"? According to the myth, Newton thought of the idea of gravity when an apple fell on his head as he was gazing at the moon in the day-time sky.
