Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli announced the arrest of Mohammed Mansour of 209 9th St., Fairview NJ, affected on February 1, 2006 at 3:00 pm, on charges of Theft of Moveable Property (2C:20-3a), and Theft by Deception (2C:20-4).
The arrest came about as a result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, Computer Crimes Unit, under the direction of Chief Michael Mordaga.
The arrest stemmed from an investigation concerning the following: Mr. Mansour became the target of an investigation following a report from an individual stating he was the victim of theft perpetrated through the Internet. During April of 2005, the victim stated he received an unsolicited e-mail (spam) advertising the sale of electronic equipment. Responding to that advertisement, the victim purchased several computer systems and other electronic equipment. The merchandise was never sent. Additionally, all contact information the victim had for the seller, Mr. Mansour, including e-mail address and phone number, was canceled shortly after. As a result of the investigation a search warrant was executed at the home of Mansour in Fairview New Jersey, on February 1, 2006. Numerous financial documents, several computer systems, and a large amount of cash were seized from the home. This investigation is continuing. It should also be noted that Mr. Mansour has been known to use the following aliases: Mohamad Mansour, Mike Sampson, Mike Mansor, and Mohammed Mansor.
Prosecutor Molinelli urges anyone who has had business dealings with or been the victim of World Market Direct Corp. (WMDC) or International Electronics Liquidations, both of which are based out of West New York, NJ, to contact the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Computer Crimes Unit. Prosecutor Molinelli states that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would like to thank the Fairview Police Department for their assistance with the execution of the search warrant.
