It was my own fault but should I keep on this low profit business?

I gave 5% dicount in the fair for this Lebanon customer, actually, 3% is the maximum, I tried to explain to him I made a mistake and it was my personal fault, this had nothing to do with my company, but he refused to raise up the price a bit. He is a new customer placed the order in the fair, I don’t really want to lose new customers but we just cannot use our 1 week production capacity making such a low profit order forever.

I asked my boss to give it up, but my boss said if he had power in his region, this would probably do harm to our repulation in Lebanon. So, what should I do then? Maybe raise the price back to normal from him second order? Or finding an exclusive agent in Lebanon with good selling price and nolonger sell to them?

Can I put him company name here? I want to know if he really had power in Lebanon, if no, I will rethink of taking back the order.

I feel so guilty but my boss didn’t blame me at all, thanks! Dear boss!

Thanks for your sharing experience.

Sincerity & Honesty is first for business of mutual side.
But most situation is : price first for the buyers in the fair. If they think it too high or not approach to their target price, they would leave right away[em9]

Well, how does the business with this Lebanon client go on?[em10]

Ok its me the rude american again....Look this one is easy all the customer was doing was using a scare tactic...i have been doing sales and marketing for years and when i run into a customer like that that tries to threaten me with leaving or not buying something i let him walk i let him think that he is nothing to me and guess what they come back(if they really want the product and that is when the ball is back in my court)  don't worry i had to learn to let some people go because i was losing money so forget them and move on to someone that will buy....adios people......oh yea if anyone has the LG  KF 900 Prada 2 phone hit me up and also the touchscreen Mp4 player that looks exactly like the I touch then hit me up also !!!!!!!!!!

I have to confess that I was being very inprofessional in the negotiation with him, and I also want to confess that I am just a green hand, that was my first time to the fair and I’ve just been doing international trading for 5 months. And this low profit order was my first order, isn’t that funny!

Honestly, I was a bit lost my head after he said he’s going to leave the table and didn't want to talk about this at all. I could see he understand I am just an amateur and wanted to push forward.

And I lost 2 good chances that I could adjust the price:

1. He ordered 2 20GP but I clearly pointed out 5% (3% actually) discount only for at least 1 40GP.

2. The price I quoted was for single mesh, if customer choose double mesh, for local market, all chairs need to add RMB5.00 per pc, but my boss didn’t want to make the difference for export price, so all mesh is the same price. But this customer choose all expensive mesh, I could have also mentioned adding up price when he chose this kind of mesh but I didn’t.

I would try to be more professional and maybe more foxy next time, and I will never fuss up for any situation or face up to any kind of wicked customers.

Thanks for all suggestions!

I think price mistake is really very serious. But when we have made such mistakes, pls explain to your customer. It's better to let them know the truth. If they still insist discount, then do it and back to the normal price from next orders; if they accpet your correct price, it's proved that they are good buyers and worth your long-term cooperation. From next orders, give them sone discount.
This is the method some friends teach me.How do you think of it?
