It's good.but I think doing business first time with supplier,which before was unknown for you.It's risk always.Knowledge is importent but doing business always is risk.

The safe way Bank L/C, make a payment by L/C both bank are responsible for this goods.
for good company you no need worry about quality issu, they always taking care of this.
you can also take support from any quality team to pay them 500$ and inspect your goods.
