How to verify the shipped goods as per agreed terms
Post 12 of 34
Quoting from [FF]:

With reference to above I would like to know the following:

1) Can a buyer/ importer inspects the shipped goods before releasing the documents from the bank ? or before making payment to the bank to release the shipped goods

2) If YES/ He Can, then what are the ways to inspect the goods, I mean, Can he do personally or someone on his /her behalf can do this

3) Does buyer /importer needs any documents from exporter in order to inspect the goods before releasing documents from the bank

4) If a buyer/importer play tricks and refuse to accept goods on quality grounds or some other reason etc, then how to resolve this matter

I hope to have a reply on above concerns from respectable members

Thanks & regards

FF

I agree with you

As a factory /suppiler, we usually take photos or video for buyers (especially new buyers)if they are unable for factory inspection before shipment. This will let the buyer know the exact goods they have bought, also a way to show and present.

the Best way is using inspection Companies like SGS or CIQ

they will inspect goods as its Chemical analyse or any details it has , they can inspect goods befor loading in the factory and also in the port in time of loading to container , and they will issue the certificate for it .

you can put the inspection Condition in Proroma invoice , thn bank will review the inspection certificate , and if it can not meet your requirment , then bank will not pay the money .and if this certificate meet all requierment in Proforma , then bank will release the money to seller's bank .

this is what we are doing allways .

some times its  need some people to inspect the goods in loading time ,

hope you can get your answer ,.

An exporter should demand for IRREVOCABLE Letter of Credit at Sight from 1st Class Bank of the Importers Country . The L/C from the Importer should be accepted by the Banker on the Exporters side.
Now days even the previously AAA banks have lost there ratings.

For the Importer ... This is a must read .

The Importer can involve Third Party Inspection .One of the world renown is SGS .
The Importer should keep this in mind that the International Inspection firm would not allow any violation of International Shipping Laws . For instance If an importer is importing some thing from China on any other country .Lets suppose its an perishable item they should not ask the Exporter to put more than the allowed weight like some ask to put more than 30 Mt rather than 28 Mt .Now in this case the SGS wont support the importer. The Importer should act responsibly and should avoid greed on his part.

[em10] For SGS one should contact the SGS of the respective Country where the Buyer wishes to import items to . Now the SGS of the Importing Country will ask the the SGS oif the Exporting Contry to foolow the cas .
In this way the buyer will contact SGS of his own counrty if Godforboidden any mishaps occurs.
The Instructions should be clear and the Importer should ask the inspection in the warehouse or the factory rather than in the Port .
This will save the time as well as will decrease the further risk .
