Replying to [Admin]:Let us look at the options:

1) require groups that represent themselves as Ltd, LLC, PLC, ytpe companies to give their registry details and to submit a DUNS number (they are free now) within 60 days of joining Alibaba.

2) For sole traders and private groups not requiring that type of registry proof that they the ability to trade as they wish to. This could be simply listing a bank account with a faxed letter of reference to Alibaba or certificates proving right to trade as an importer/exporter where needed.

3) Create a complaints system that not only works with us the clients of Alibaba (real honest sellers and buyers) but also works with legal groups that would love the contact information that these criminal put up on the web as it would give them more tools to catch them (and put a big low cost PR feather in the cap of Alibaba).

4)Aid members in keeping the items on subject to the group that they are posting to. If it becomes a constant problem (probable abuse) warn and if not corrected delete the clients account for abuse as in the by laws.

5) Allow a feed back system similar to E-bay for those that trust that over Due Diligence and proper research (I'll take the old route any day).

6) Insuring that Alibaba complies with all international laws in that in some places allowing persons to make false claim of patent against a firm that holds a true patent IS a criminal offense and less and less countries are willing to shield any firm caught in this game.

7) From what I have seen the screening process that is employed by Alibaba needs to be gone over and possibly contracted with a more trusted source as there is ample evidence of abuse and fraud by those who chose to buy their "trusted" position with the intent to use it to defraud others.

That is what i can think of off the top of my head and the best written but hopefully will aid Admin' in making this site even more useful and a better reason for some of us to spend money to a a paid membership instead of using the free access level.

Replying to [Admin]:What most of the answers overlook is the fact that alibaba is almost a scam itself. It sells membership. It has no investment in policeing its members. The chinese scammers buy their gold and silver credentials and the chinese alibaba makes money. Alibaba is only of use to meet the scammers from 12,000 miles away.

Replying to [Admin]: I support the escrow idea Ranger has. Perhaps Alibaba can partner with a service already out there. I would feel much more comfortable buying from a foreign company that offered an escrow payment method.

As stated by some informed persons:
1) Companies to provide their company registration number
2) dunns #

Alibaba to:
1) request above from companies
2) provide details how buyers or suppliers can verify these
3) introduce a feedback feature on their site - such as [dare we say it] ebay
4) establish a formalised introduction service with recognised escrow payment for goods - sample quantities - not ridiculous $US200k type initial orders

Avoid Shenzhen Dollars
Shenzhen Dollars Co., Ltd. (The truth about this company)
Hello everyone,

I will save you the time and the money you were thinking of sending this company. We sent more the $10 000 USD to this company. Everything they sent were either broken, counterfit, and or used. They claim they will fix it but never do. We lost a lot of money to these people. Please think twice taking the next step of sending money to them.

We sent back 10 Nokia 9500's that were broken our of 20. That is 50% of the stock. And when it got to customs they did not pay the fee for China customs (that we would pay if they simply paid and ask us to pay) and China customs confescated the phones since they were probably counterfit. They told me it's tough luck. My brother lost $1000 as well to this company. Everything you send back for repair never get's back to you or comes more broken.

DO NOT TRUST THEM.
