I have recently had 2 bad experiences with suppliers that I thought were trustworthy.

On each occasion I paid my money and was firstly sent poor quality goods, although I paid for best quality, and second time the next supplier told me his manager was cheating on him and had taken the money I sent ................I am still waiting for my goods.

So, to answer this question do not be fooled by charming suppliers. I believe you must have a certain amount of trust otherwise no one would be able to trade.

If like me you have problems let Alibaba know about it, and report it to your Alibaba community so the supplier is blacklisted.

I hope this helps to answer your question.

Edie,
I would love to be able to report these untrustworthy people - how do you do it? There is nowhere obvious on Alibaba.

There were some good ideas in this topic regarding how to analyze a buyer or supplier, but nothing beats "entrepeneurship".

I just read an article about "gut feeling" where a renowned German psychologist is interviewed. He is the one who gave this phenomenon credibility worldwide. Before it was ridiculized as "superstition".

His definition of real "gut feeling" is something along the line of "a fast, unconcious, but correct assessment of a situation" (my words, not his). You can read the whole article here: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/28/science/28conv.html?_r=1&ref=science&oref=slogin

Anyway, the successful businessperson has this gut feeling and is right in his assessment. You can't do business if you have to go through a lengthy check list of "hundreds" of items everytime you meet a new supplier or buyer. You have to spot the rotten apple in a matter of seconds - or faster!

So there isn't really any "judging" of your contact. Many people do that, though, but they make a huge number of mistakes. Have you ever wondered why a company (in reality, an employee without business experience) disregarded you? The reason was, "you were judged"... by a neophyte!

At the same time, I don't want to discourage all the newbies in these forums. To arrive at the point where you can rely on your gut feeling you have to go through a lot of life experience. And during this time there is no other way than going by all the rules mentioned in this topic so far.

But at the same time continuously compare what you believed to be right and good with what you found out later. That will eventually produce that necessary gut feeling in you.

Serious or Trustworthy = $$$$$$$. Plain and Simple. " Show me the Money! You can't get MORE serious or Trustworthy than that! [em3] Seriously, BOTH parties begin negotiations. MOQ and MOP are discussed and agreed. All TERMS and CONDITIONS are discussed and agreed upon. Orders are placed with Wire Transfer deposit. Production begins with the HIGHEST standards. Shipping comensurates. All parties involved are satisfied. RESULTS = Long term Business relationship. It don't get any BETTER than that! [em17]

Replying to [Admin]:Visit them on their place and ask about him/her to employer of him/her and inform from neighbors .All other suggestions are only possibility (call,e-mail-fax etc). This way is probably expensive but very efficient way , a specially for some big amounts.
