Recently we had a client who wanted us to visit a supplier in China and check their products before shipping. We called the cell phone provided by our client, but there was no answer. We assume the supplier did not answer because they could see that the call was from China. Later, our US colleague called them and pretended to be a potential customer. He asked if his friends could meet them in their office. They made excuse by saying that they needed to discuss this and asked our colleague to call back later. When he called later, nobody took the phone.

This is a typical case where you have to be cautious. We call it “fly by night” operation. They are likely to disappear after they receive your prepayment.

Here are some points for you to consider to avoid losses.

1. Be aware if the only contact is a cell phone. In China, cell phones are not registered, so you cannot find people by their cell phone number.

2. Be aware if they sell brand name products with a very competitive price, such as cell phones, laptops, Nike shoes, LV bags, etc.

3. Be aware if they ask for prepayment and do not accept sending people to check the products.

4. Be aware if they use a personal B/A or Western Union.

If you find suppliers that meet the above situations, you should be very careful. We cannot be 100% sure they are fraud, because there are some good businessman who use cell phones and personal B/A. But just be extra cautious.

The best way is to have a trusted person to visit the supplier and to check the products. We can offer such a service to save you cost and make sure you purchase good products.

Regards.

Alex

Common sense and a few slow deep breaths before sending your money should stop this ridiculous constant stream of sorry - arsed victims to these scammers.

"Money Is The Route Of All Evil" and it applies to not only the scammers here but you guys who get scammed! You are being greedy probably because you want to sell-on and make extra profit. If you're buying for personal use then you're a lamb-to-the-slaughter frankly!

Don't get me wrong on this but  go to the major trading companies and ask yourself why is it they don't sell the branded mobiles or laptops etc?? Because there's no margins, that's why!! So how can small "companies" get them cheaper?? They don't they sell fakes or inferior quality which will get them passed any criminal law and they'll know that you won't bother with Civil litigation to recover a few thousand or few hundred $$$.

Find a good agent and let them handle it and let them earn 5% or come to another company like ours or one in your own country and they'll handle everything...and take all the risks!!

Too many people come to the internet thinking they'll save money but don't realise the difference between doing business with an established retailer that is online in their own country and scammer with a website in China/Nigeria/UK or Outer Space!!

The rip-offs are  scandalous in the manner that they are so easy!

Slow down everybody before hitting the "send" key and your money disappears.

If it seems too good...re-check!!

Anybody can sell a dollar bill for 90cents but wouldn't you be suspicous??

Contact me directly if you need help or advice (but not a shoulder to cry on!).
