Shipping Containers from China
Post 1 of 25
In the past I have used a shipping agent in the USA to arrange shipments from Ningbo China to New York/New Jersey, and finally transported to Albany NY. My previous agent is now gone, and the price has skyrocketed to $4,000 for a 20' container.
Several years ago I asked DHL to quote me on a 20' container. Instead they seized my shipments and shipped them by air. That was a huge bill, and lawyers had to get involved. So, I would like to avoid any of these types of shippers.
The biggest problem is transportation from NYC/NJ to Albany NY port (150 mile / 100 km). My customs location is Albany NY. I don't want to drive 150 miles to NYC/NJ to process customs.
Right now I have multiple shipments waiting in China for a shipper. Any suggestions or web site that can show me a better way, or a list of shipping companies I can contact? I am having a real problem finding shippers. I would prefer to make arrangements in China instead. I think that I would get a better price this way. Comments or suggestions are welcome.

Owl,
Contact info is not allowed in the forums. that is an Alibaba rule, not mine. People should contact you via TM to speak with you directly.
Since you haven't found a way to do this yet, please contact ME via TM and I can do some digging for you. East coast isn't my gig, but I can probably find you someone who can help.
Regards,
Peter.

Also,
try this article. It doesn;t say specifically if the containers being moved are still bonded or not but it might be worth a followup call to these people to ask.

From my reading they are moving the containers via rail/ brage to other customs points. If they are actually moving them to customs points I am making the assumption the container has not cleared customs in NY..... ??

Replying to [owlboy]:The freight cost from NB to Albany .NJ (CY/DR) is about 3200USD(all water) .I worked 2 years for a big coated paper manufactuer in China before. Now the company has the lawsuit with US Ministry of Commerce. Every month before i left this company ,the total shipping volum to USA over 1000 TEU.So I am very familiar with the SINO-US shipping market.
I recommendate you to use Kline, its has advantages in Sino-US east coast line.If your destinaiton is west coast ,such as CA,your can chose COSCO,cheaper freight and aboud in space.
Yes, you need a forward to help you clear the customs in N.Y.It's no difficult to find one in NY.
Note; When you get the freight rate from the forward or agent ,you should be adviced the extra fee such ODC,THC,the customs clearance fee, docs fee.ect

If you are still in the market for a forwarder I can definitley get you a better rate than what you have gotten in the past. We specialize in bringing goods out of CHina and we have excellent contacts with COSCO (China Shipping Co) which helps us get outstanding rates. If you would like a quote please email the shipment details to me and I will get a quote to you asap.
No contact info pls.... Mods
